AccessMatters would like to acknowledge the passing of our friend and colleague, Gloria Casarez. Gloria was truly an inspiring leader who worked tirelessly to improve the health and lives of others, most recently in her capacity as the Director of the Office of LGBT Affairs for the City of Philadelphia.

Gloria was a visionary leader who knew that access to sexual health information and services is as critical as empowering our communities to see our health as central to our lives. Her legacy demonstrates a commitment to community empowerment and inclusion, and a deep understanding of the social justice principles that access to healthcare represents.

We will miss her incredible energy, thoughtfulness, and generosity of spirit as much as the work she did to improve the lives of Philadelphians. While she was taken from us much too soon, the impact she has on our communities, in how we work together collaboratively and how we value each other, is a solid foundation that will take us forward.
