From our Friends at PA AAP - Please, share this information far and wide.
Su***de can have a long-lasting effect on individuals such as family, friends, and communities. Children and adolescents may have a difficult time with their emotions that are strong as depression and anxiety. Overwhelming feelings can make them confused and worried, unsure of what's going on. Being available to talk or offer help can fix the confusion and help understand what the feeling is. Mental health in children and adolescents can affect them on their school work, hobbies, and future ways of understanding their feelings.
Being there for your child is the first step, listen when they are struggling or needing help. When a child is showing signs of suicidal thoughts or their mental health is deteriorating, it is important to bring them to their doctor. This can help prevent su***de or thoughts of su***de by giving them the help they need. Talking to a teacher or school counselor on the best ways to help them can give children another support system.
This is a crucial time to be there for children and adolescents as it shows that there is support in the world. Be aware of those around you even if they don't show signs of declining mental health or suicidal thoughts or feelings.
Be aware, listen, advocate, reach out, and support those who are struggling. We are here to support children in this time of need.

Meghann from TACHP and Michelle from SafeCare were representing Health Promotion Council of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Inc. at St. Christopher's Back to School Carnival! We had a blast meeting so many wonderful families and connecting with some of our favorite fellow advocacy orgs. (Special thanks to the DJ for spinning some tunes from our generation! 😉)

FYI - Medicaid renewal paperwork is now coming in a pink envelope to make it easier to spot! 👀
To make it easier to recognize the arrival of your Medicaid renewal packet in the mail, DHS has started using large pink envelopes to send out renewal packets. Watch for a large PINK envelope in the mail (like the photo) and submit your renewal online using COMPASS or bring it to your local county assistance office by the due date listed on your packet.
TIP: When dropping off paperwork in person, be sure to ask for a time-stamped receipt to show what you dropped off.
