Despite the “Contains Sulfites” warning on almost every bottle, these tiny compounds are actually the unsung heroes of winemaking—not the enemy. The Breakdown: 🛡️ The Bodyguards: Sulfites are natural preservatives that protect wine from turning into vinegar or browning like a sliced apple. 🍑 The Apricot Test: A handful of dried apricots contains up to 10x more sulfites than a glass of red wine. If you can eat dried fruit without a headache, sulfites aren’t your problem. ⚪ The White Wine Plot Twist: Red wine actually contains fewer sulfites than white wine, because reds have natural tannins that help with preservation. 🧠 The Real Suspects: Histamines, tyramines, and even Quercetin (a grape skin antioxidant) are much more likely to trigger that “red wine headache” than sulfites ever were. Chris is back! This is like "Name that Tune" meets Bingo. Win Stone & Key gift cards! This event is FREE, but we ask you to honor a two drink minimum (we have plenty of non-alcs!) to keep it feasible for us to put on.

3️⃣ All January long: "Dry" January Challenge

Visit us in January and try a dry red, rosé, white, and cider. Try all four, get a pair of Stone & Key tasting glasses. Visit four times in January to get a Stone & Key t-shirt. Prizes can be combined.

January has always been a slower month, and the rise of Dry January has made it even tougher for small, independent producers and the teams who rely on tasting room sales and gratuities. This challenge helps support our staff, our space, and craft producers like us while still promoting moderation and responsible enjoyment.
