Today is the last day with our high school interns! Each intern presented a project focused on what they would do if they were council member for a day. From third spaces to lit bus stops, from financial literacy programs to sidewalk cleanup, these five students had some truly incredible ideas for making Philly better. Thanks for an awesome summer!

Yesterday’s hearing brought together a conversation about confusion and communication. Thank you to the many members of the public who joined to share their stories, as well as everyone who shared videos, images, and firsthand accounts via online form.

We need to keep transit reliable and affordable. I’ve long supported the Transit Access Fund, which would help more people get where they need to go without worrying about whether they can afford the ride. Public transit is an investment in people and the future of Philadelphia.

Thank you to Transit Forward Philadelphia for chatting with me on the 24-hour ride!

ICYMI: I introduced a bill to curb junk fees in Philly.
Businesses will need to disclose fees up front and prove cost justification for fees they wish to keep. Thank you to Josh Sidorowicz for sitting down to talk with me about these hidden fees!

This week, I got the chance to team up with Independence Business Alliance to present a brand new laptop to Mads W. | Handy Dandy Home Services. They offer handy services to Philly’s q***r community, but needed some new equipment. Thanks to a donation from Comcast, they can better serve their customers. Happy to be a part of such an uplifting exchange!

Another wonderful VetFest! 🇺🇸 Thank you to everyone who came out to support our veterans and make this event so special. Thanks especially to Dave and Tyrone, veterans of the Navy and Army, who I was able to honor at today’s event.

In Judaism, Tisha B’av is a day where we mourn the many tragedies in Jewish history. But as we take this time to seek spiritual and communal repair, we must channel our history into solidarity. Thank you Rodfei Shalom / Rabbis4Ceasefire for having me.

The Rue Crew interns had an excellent excursion this week, attending the Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) Tour hosted by PennFuture. They learned about various innovative GSI projects across Philadelphia and how green infrastructure helps manage stormwater, improve water quality, and create more resilient communities.
