This used to be a $50 “eh, throw it in the cart” overdrive.
Now it’s a collector piece… wearing a scarf… ordering a pour-over.

Ever since that JHS / Josh Scott Klon Centaur shootout, this little green box somehow got promoted to “vintage / rare / must-own.”

So what is it—peak hipster gear culture or just pedal hype doing what pedal hype does?

Because somehow a basic overdrive became a boutique flex.

Years after the whole Bad Monkey blow-up, prices still haven’t really found their way back home. What started as a spike somehow turned into a baseline — and now an otherwise ordinary overdrive is living in “premium” territory.

These warm, flowing lines are coming from a DiMarzio Air Norton 7 in the neck of my Angel Vivaldi Charvel — a pickup I’ve been chasing since my first John Petrucci Ibanez P3 back in the early 2000s. Funny how some tones just stick with you for life.

Next up, I’m planning a reunion with this pickup in my Strandberg Original 7 — the current set just isn’t giving me the same spark.

These legato lines from my “At Doom’s Gate” cover are on a Strandberg Standard (Pre-NX) that I originally thought would just pass through my hands. But the more time I spent with it, the more it refused to be forgettable.

After testing so many guitars, most blur together. Every now and then, one shows up with a personality of its own — and this one earned a permanent spot.
