The 250th anniversary of the foundation of the United States is approaching fast, and we wanted to get ahead of the curve and show some love to its first capital!
Our city is an old and wonderful place. Predating the US by almost a hundred years, it has been a commercial and cultural center for the area. We at UrbnSEEK appreciate every corner of this city, from Northeast to Southwest, and from South to uptown. We meet so many people from all over, and every time we find something new to love about our city.

Today is the anniversary of the opening of one of Philly's favorite spots: the Philadelphia zoo! Today the honor of our West Philly Firsts spotlight goes to the zoo to honor this special occasion!
It's not just special because it's in Philly, it's special because it is the first proper zoo in America! It's origins go back to 1859, when it was first chartered.

Today we'd like to spotlight the first black-owned business in Reading Terminal Market: Sweet T's Bakery!
For almost 150 years, Reading Terminal Market has served the people of Philadelphia. It's one of our most treasured landmarks and a tourist attraction that deserves the attention.
Sweet T's Bakery also made its mark on history by being the first black-owned business to call reading Terminal Market its home. They offer a variety of baked treats, including miniature pies! UrbnSEEK recently featured some of these pastries at a past BLKTea and they were a hit! Go to Reading Terminal Market and give a try!
