Introducing Radical Roots 🌱

We’re excited to introduce Radical Roots—a new series celebrating the books and printed matter that have shaped movements, imaginations, and practices rooted in justice.

Each installment is curated by an artist, organizer, or cultural worker whose commitment to liberation runs deep. Through collections of used books and other social justice artifacts, they offer a personal glimpse into the texts that have nourished their politics, creativity, and sense of possibility.

This first installment is curated by Cree Myles—writer, organizer, and creator of , a platform dedicated to uplifting Black literature and readers. Based in Milwaukee, Cree brings a deep love of language, legacy, and liberation to everything she touches.

While we’re featuring a selection of four titles here, the complete collection of eleven books is available on our website. You can explore them all through the “Radical Roots” link in our bio. Each book is paired with a personal reflection from Cree, sharing how she first encountered the book and why it continues to resonate. These reflections aren’t summaries or explanations, but invitations: to connect across readers, histories, and generations of struggle and dreaming.

Every book is used, carrying its own story before it reaches your hands.

May this series nourish your own radical roots—and remind you that reading, like resistance, is a shared and living practice. 🌿
