This week’s Sunday School took us from the vineyards of Georgia to the rolling hills of Pennsylvania.
In the glass was the 2021 Glekhuri Kisi Qvevri, an orange wine from Kakheti, Georgia, crafted using the country’s ancient qvevri tradition of fermenting and aging wine in clay vessels buried underground. The result is a wine layered with notes of orange peel, wild herbs, black tea, and earthy complexity.
On the table was Old Man Highlander from Calkins Creamery in Honesdale, PA. This gouda-style cheese is aged for six months, developing rich, rustic flavors that showcase the craftsmanship of one of Pennsylvania’s standout family-run creameries.
Every Sunday School is an opportunity to discover something new, learn a little history, and enjoy great wine and cheese along the way.
