On a day like today, with our region under a Code Purple Air Quality Alert, this work feels especially urgent. 🟣

When Tanesha Oglesby's daughter was hospitalized three times with asthma, part of the problem was hiding in the walls of her West Philadelphia home — mold, a roof leak, a gas leak.
That's where our partnership with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia comes in. Through their Community Asthma Prevention Program (CAPP+ Home Repairs), our teams work alongside CHOP's health providers to remove asthma triggers from patients' homes — at no cost to families.

“We really do have to address the environment and social factors that interfere with the management of asthma,” says Dr. Tyra Bryant-Stephens, CHOP pediatrician and CAPP founder.

Since 2017, we've completed about 250 repair jobs citywide, with over 600 families still on the waitlist. When outdoor air quality is out of our control, making sure indoor air is safe matters more than ever. Grateful for CHOP's leadership on this work and proud to be their partner in it. 💙

This is a public health crisis. As extreme heat becomes more frequent and more dangerous, energy affordability isn't a side issue — it's a matter of life and safety for our neighbors.

What a full day. 🙌

We closed out our summer Block Build on N Palethorp St in Fairhill and we are still riding the high.

Day 2 brought even more hands to the block — including crews from and MIRA who led fire safety education and smoke alarm installation in the homes we repaired and beyond.

To every volunteer who gave their time, every sponsor who sent their team, and every neighbor who opened their door and let us in — thank you. This weekend was everything. 🔨❤️

Day 1 (of the hottest 🥵 🔥 Build of the year) is done — and what a day. 🙌

We are officially celebrating 2,500 homes repaired since 1988! 🎉 And we marked the milestone the only way we know how — by getting back to work.

Today, volunteers showed up in force on N Palethorp St in Fairhill — painting, laying flooring, tackling plumbing and more across nine homes. Tomorrow we finish the job.
