This Black History Month, we at Women In Transition honor the strength, leadership, and vision of Black communities, especially Black women, who have consistently shaped and led the movement to end domestic and gender-based violence. From building community-based support systems to demanding justice where systems have failed, Black women and communities have long led the work of protecting survivors and transforming communities.

Despite the fact that the movement to end gender-based violence would not exist without Black women, their leadership and impact are often overlooked. This month, and every month, we commit to uplifting Black survivors, centering Black voices, and continuing our work rooted in equity for all survivors.

January is National Stalking Awareness Month πŸŽ—οΈ
Every year, millions of people in the United States experience stalking. Many survivors of stalking know the person stalking them, often current or former intimate partners.

National Stalking Awareness Month is about naming the harm, raising awareness about the seriousness of stalking, and believing and supporting survivors. Together we can shine a light on the impact of stalking, amplify survivors' voices, and work towards a future where everyone feels safe and supported πŸ’›πŸ’œ
