We can’t help but kvell over seeing some of the Ukrainian refugee children we’ve helped support THRIVE in a space that was once unfamiliar not too long ago. Along with other students, two refugee children were recipients of the “Anne Frank Award” for demonstrating kindness, courage, resilience, and empathy with their peers. We are so proud of them!
A parent of one of these children shared the happy news with us and a heartwarming note:
"This morning, students were recognized for excellence in a variety of categories. I was incredibly proud and happy to learn that at least two children involved with KleinLife were among the award recipients.
As I celebrated this wonderful news, I found myself wanting to share it with someone who would be just as proud as any parent. That person is our dear Victoria Faykin.
I realized why I felt that way. It is because of the endless encouragement and inspiration that Victoria gives to children every day—the love of learning, personal growth, curiosity about the world, and the desire to make a positive difference.
Thank you, Victoria, for everything you do for our children. One day, when these young people grow up and achieve great things, KleinLife and Victoria Faykin will be written into their stories as an important part of their journey."
Mazel Tov to them and their families! What a great way to almost close out this school year 💙
In honor of Holocaust Survivor Day (6/4), we feel lucky to have spent time with Elizabeth Bleiman over the years. She recently passed away in May at 104 years old as one of the Philadelphia’s community’s oldest survivors.
She was someone who always had a smile on her face even though her experiences in the Holocaust, including being in Auschwitz, should have left her in despair. We miss her positivity and light that she brought to our community. May her memory be a blessing 🕯️
We share with you just a small piece of her story. ❤️
We are honored to serve 200 Holocaust survivors in the Greater Philadelphia area.
