Happy Halloween!

Going to the bookstore for a new read is just about as pleasurable as it is stressful. How do YOU chose your next read? Do you rely on Recommendations? Or are you like me and do you do an incredible amount of (inevitably useless) research before finding the perfect next read?

Most of the time I grab the book I most recently vetted and head off to goodreads and proceed to deep dive into the “related” section until I find something sufficient- sometimes I find a gem I’m super excited about but there are just as many instances where I come up with something that works but doesn’t necessarily excite me- so I’m looking for tips!

So incredibly excited for this novel . Has everything I need to study for writing WFTT: Puritan/pagan conflict, gothic fantasy, and masterful writing. I loved Brom’s novel “The Child Thief” when I was younger, I know I’ll love “Slewfoot”already.

Ryland Grace enjoys his job as a grade school science teacher and would be content doing so for the rest of his life - if the survival of everyone on earth didn’t already depend on him going to space. Andy Weir does it again with the proceeding novel to his award-winning debut “The Martian”, now a major motion picture. “Project Hail Mary” has all the nitty-gritty true-to-life science that made “The Martian” so compelling with an added twist of classic Sci-Fi fantasy that is masterfully and seamlessly blended into a believable, shocking, and incredibly entertaining read page for page.

Another piece of art from . Solid 4/5. This book came close to ranking as a favorite for me and will certainly hover in my top three for the foreseeable future.

Midjourney is a great resource for references as I write. My writing partner will eventually be the one to actually make illustrations but in the meantime, these are great stand-ins.

Some ideas regarding the parasite/cicada-like insect for my novel WFFT ( Wood For The Trees ). I’m thinking something a little more fully-black and cicada like than this, but close!
