Folks of all ages who knit, sew, crochet, weave, or stitch are welcome to bring their projects and join us on select Mondays at 5 pm to work on them in the company of other crafty people!

Some materials and assistance may be provided based on availability.

Their award-winning music centers positivity, social justice, and silliness. Full of humor and harmony, Ants concerts are energetic, interactive, and a delight for both children and adults.

The Free Library System will close at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 22, 2026 in observance of Memorial Day. South Philly Library will be open on Saturday, May 23rd, but will be closed again on Monday, May 25, 2026.

In the expressive spirit of Our Missing Hearts, join Hive76 in learning how to use microcontrollers to communicate, create art and bring ideas to reality. This class will go over the basics of how these devices work, show off examples of how they may be used and give hands on demonstrations for attendees to understand how they could implement such items in their works. Join us at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 9 for a screening of the official film companion to the 2026 One Book, One Philadelphia selection. This powerful documentary highlights librarians standing up against book bans and censorship while defending the freedom to read. Runtime: 92 minutes.

Stop by on Monday, May 4 from 2pm - 5pm for Open Office Hours with a Social Worker where you can receive help finding, navigating, and connecting to relevant community and government agencies.

Two hundred and fifty years ago, Philadelphia ignited new thinking about freedom. It’s time to check in and see what Philly is thinking today.

The Free Library invites everyone, in every neighborhood of Philadelphia, to join us in this oral history project “To Be Free.” Come to a Free Library location and share your response to one basic and fundamental question, “What does it mean to be free?”

The library will be collecting these recordings as a time capsule for future generations to understand Philadelphia today. People of all ages are encouraged to participate. Children can also draw an answer on special coloring sheets, showing off how they visualize freedom today.
