FYI to our follow gardeners: we're going to make MEEP's workparties every 1st Saturday of each month. We want to put up flyers in the neighborhood to boost local community involvment and so we need to pick a day and be consistent about it. Sorry to those of you for whom Saturdays are no good! We chose Saturday with the local south philly community in mind. We may also occasionally throw a workparty on a Sunday, but it would be in addition to the one on the 1st Saturday. For the month of May, we do intend to throw a workparty both on the 1st Saturday (May 3rd) and on Sunday, May 4th.

MEEP 2013 01/18/2014

Yesterday I noticed that at 5:30pm the sky had not yet entered into full dark. It made me realize that we're on our way towards a new spring season, even though it's still cold outside! So, I figured I'd better post pictures from MEEP's 2013 season before we begin this season. So, enjoy these few pics and smile at the thought that soon we'll meet again to sift some dirt between our fingers in south Philly!

Beekeeping 101 Workshop : Greensgrow Farms 08/27/2013

Hello, follow gardeners! Marlon and I (Maritza) have signed up for a beekeeping beginners class at GreensGrow Farms on September 7, 2013. The goal to to get an active hive going again at MEEP next year. We would love to have one or two (or three!) other gardeners join us for the class if he/she/they would like to be seriously involved in helping us with the regular maintaining of the hive. The class costs 25$, so it would definitely be an investment in MEEP's future! Please contact us if you sign up!

Keep Valdez From Losing His Home to Sheriff's Auction 05/09/2013

One of our volunteers is heading this fundraiser. Please donate and share to keep our neighbor, Valdez in his home of twenty years. We only have one week to go, and a lot of money to raise still, but the generosity we have seen already is beautiful. You might not know Val, but he means a lot to his neighbors and community. Donate what you can, thank you!

Keep Valdez From Losing His Home to Sheriff's Auction Valdez's home of twenty years is going up for sheriff's auction for $7500. He's an older man, an amazing person and neighbor. He needs to keep his home.
