ATTN DELCO: The Delaware County Environmental Expo is coming up this Saturday, May 30th from 11-1pm in Rose Tree Park in Media!
Join PennEnvironment, Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, Senator Tim Kearney, Rep. Jennifer O'Mara, members of the Delco Legislative Delegation, and dozens of local green groups and renewable energy businesses to learn more about how we can protect Pennsylvania and the planet.
The Delco Environmental Expo will be a great chance to talk with your local elected officials, learn from more than a dozen clean energy and environmental exhibitors, check out different models of electric vehicles, and test out electric lawn equipment, all while learning more about clean energy and environmental initiatives taking place in Delaware County.
Plus! New this year: We're also hosting a clothing swap as part of the Expo! So bring any gently used clothes that need a 2nd home!

Yesterday, we were thrilled to join Public Works of Reading, PA, Mayor Eddie Moran, members of Reading City Council and the Reading EAC, Schneider Electric, and community partners to break ground on an incredible solar array that is now under construction in Reading!
As part of Reading's commitment to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2050, the City of Reading is installing 4,255 solar panels across City facilities, including 3,180 panels at the Public Works campus (rooftop and covered parking canopy) and 1,075 panels at the Cedar Street parking lot near City Hall. These panels will lower air and climate pollution, provide shade and protection to city vehicles, and save the city millions of dollars on utility bills. It's a win win win for the city and will certainly serve as a model for cities across the Commonwealth who we hope are encouraged to follow Reading's lead.

We've had 10 years of better air in the Pittsburgh region thanks to Allegheny Clean Air Now (ACCAN)'s advocacy to close Shenango Coke Works. ACCAN is celebrating at an event next week.

Earlier today, we released the latest addition of our State of Renewable Energy Report. Unfortunately, we found that Pennsylvania ranks 47th in the Nation for growth of clean, renewable energy over the past decade. And we only get 5% of our electricity from renewable sources.
"Pennsylvanians want and need a cleaner, healthier future, powered by abundant renewable resources,” said Belle Sherwood, Climate and Clean Energy advocate with PennEnvironment. “Clearly Pennsylvania isn’t doing enough to tap into the benefits of clean energy at the rate of most other states.”
Thank you so much to Rep. David Madsen, Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler, Will Hoover from McClure Company, David Scholnick from Solar States, and PennEnvironment member Ted Fallon for joining us to speak at today's events and for all you do for our planet!
