Eat. Educate. Empower.

As food insecurity continues to plague our communities, it’s critically important that people not only have access to food but have access to the knowledge on how to prepare and eat that food. But too often, teaching people the skill of cooking and giving them the confidence to prepare nutritious, delicious meals falls to the wayside.

Through the Mobile Teaching Kitchen and free cooking classes in the Teaching Kitchen, Vetri Community Partnership is bridging this knowledge gap and prioritizing an oft-forgotten part of food access: cooking and eating.

As food costs have skyrocketed, it feels important to ensure that our neighbors experiencing poverty are able to eatβ€”and able to eat nutritious, delicious foods. Learning to cook can expand your entire world and give you the ability to feed yourself and your family for the rest of your life.

The Mobile Teaching Kitchen rolls all over the city but makes it a point to go to food distribution sites across the city and even in Camden to share samples, cooking techniques, and recipes using ingredients that you could find in a food box. Our recipes are simple, using affordable ingredients to make things taste good without breaking the bank.

πŸ’š Donate today so we can continue offering our neediest neighbors the opportunity to lead healthier lives, link below.

Wishing all of our students a very happy, healthy, and delicious summer! β˜€οΈπŸŽπŸ‘©β€πŸ³

This semester, our Vetri Cooking Lab students learned to prepare nutritious meals, tried new foods, and built confidence in the kitchen. These young chefs are heading into summer with life skills for life.

And if you ask us, their words say it best:

πŸ’¬ "I love getting to cook with you! You make cooking fun!"
πŸ’¬ "My first time trying asparagus, and I like it!"
πŸ’¬ "I'm gonna go home and make this again tonight."
πŸ’¬ "I want to make recipes like this when I am grown!"
πŸ’¬ "I could eat this recipe for the rest of my life."
πŸ’¬ "I had the opportunity to leave early from school today, but I stayed just for this."

Happy Friday!

Check out this young chef showing off her knife skills! She loves cooking with her grandma and has recently graduated to using real knives in the kitchen. 🀩

One of the best parts of our classroom based nutrition education program is seeing students take hands-on learning and put those skills into practice at home. Whether they're chopping vegetables, trying new recipes, or cooking alongside family members, they're building confidence that extends far beyond the classroom.

As Vetri Cooking Lab spring semester comes to a close for the summer, we can’t help but reflect on all the progress our students have made! At the beginning of the semester, we asked each of these young chefs what they wanted to learn. By the end, they were chopping, sautΓ©ing, and trying new foods they had never tried before!

We are so proud to see these kids heading into the summer feeling more empowered to make more nutritious choice because they have confidence in the kitchen! Great job chefs πŸ’š
