Some 3 thousand years ago , in what is now Mexico, Guatemala, Belice, Honduras and El Salvador ,team of players devised a game played with a rubber ball. The significance of this wondrous material cannot be overstated. When Europeans first bouncing rubber balls , they were amazed. How did ancient people learn the milky plant juices could be transformed into a bouncing ball? That discovery is shrouded in misters, I can only speculate, but there is not mystery to the result. It led to a game , one which would become fundamentally intertwined with ancient MesoAmerican life and thought.

Together with artistic director of Puentes, artists Nora Litz , Lemus e Ivonne Pinto, we put together a series of workshops where people of the community could share all their knowledge that usually they don’t have very often the opportunity of doing so, Susana Gonzales was in charge of this talker de chicolate where cacao grinding and preparation of the delicious foamy drink make that morning really special. At the same time we built together what we called a codice , amoxtli in large format to illustrate those activities. When in south Philly, swing by to check the art at , it’s fill with many surprises.
