Happiest of birthdays my love.

Sometimes I wonder how you have enough love, to love the way you do - how you constantly choose kindness over bitterness, forgiveness over revenge, love over hate.

You’re gentle to those who hurt you, compassionate to those who’ve done you wrong holding nothing against them in your heart.

You’re not perfect, and you’re the first one to acknowledge the ways you’ve come up short. Your humility and sincerity are my favorite things about you.

Grateful to celebrate you today (even though these photos were when Forbearance was 5 weeks old - 📸 thanks )

Though I love working from home 😍 (especially with all the baby snuggles🤍 and a original workstation), bathrooms always provided a nice change of scenery in between coding sessions👩🏽‍💻

Enjoy these bathroom mirror selfies as my membership officially ended yesterday. Good thing I got a free year in the middle of a pregnancy and pandemic.🙃

My sweet Vanessa, one of the most beautiful things about you is the way you love people. You never run out of second chances for others; regardless of where they come from, regardless of the choices they make, you always put your heart on the line for their sake.

Marriage is designed to reflect the One who created it. God has given you and Andrew the gift of marriage to help each other look more like Jesus..

To be merciful as you endeavor to understand others, ⠀
To be compassionate, showing kindness toward all. ⠀
To be gentle and humble, unoffendable in your patience with others. ⠀
To tolerate the weaknesses of those in the family of faith, forgiving one another in the same way you have been graciously forgiven by Jesus Christ. ⠀
To release this same gift of forgiveness to others.
For love is supreme and must flow through each of these virtues.

‭‭- Colossians‬ ‭3:12-15‬ ‭TPT‬‬

Happy first week of marriage sweet girl. 🤍

3 months today 🤍

I never played with dolls growing up, so I was pretty nervous about dressing you or changing your diaper, even holding you correctly. But one of the sweetest gifts from God is how He has already given you such a merciful and patient spirit.

Now don’t get me wrong Forbearance, I still avoid putting clothes on you if I can help it, and we’ve had our fair share of accidents, but your gentle love gives me the confidence to become more of the mother I was created to be.

“Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a right and steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit.

Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners shall be converted and return to You.”

9.5.2020 // One of my favorite characteristics about God is His forbearance, His patient mercy. He loves us so much that He is patient with the world in His return - in all the distaste, pain, heartbreak, injustice - not because He is slow nor turns a blind eye but because he is merciful and patiently awaiting our heart’s return to Him.

My prayer for my daughter is that she would extend that same loving mercy to others, that she would seek and nurture those that are lost and wandering from the Father’s love, that she would be patient as they come to understand just how much Jesus loves them, and being merciful as she journeys with them through the trial and pain until they come back home into His eternal grace.

Forbearance Amara Edgar, it hasn’t even been a week with you here and you’ve already changed my world. 🌍May God continue to give you His patient, merciful love to extend to others.

We can’t wait to meet you sunshine ☀️ to hold you, to care for you, to listen, teach and learn from you, to laugh with you and to cry with you, to walk through this beautiful life with you.

But I’m most looking forward to being on mission together - to love like Jesus. To care for each one of your little friends and their parents that you bring into our family. To welcome others into our home and our lives. To point them to Creator of this world, not just through our words but through the way our actions show how deeply we love them.

Happy due date baby 🤍 can’t wait to welcome you into this world and take you home! @ Ocean City, New Jersey

The things you’ve already taught me:⠀

FAITH. ⠀
In the unexplainable love and devotion to someone I have never seen before but have felt inside me (everyday), you my daughter have deepened my faith in the unseen God and opened my eyes to the many ways He reveals Himself to us. ⠀

HOPE. ⠀
One day soon, we’ll meet (Lord willing). As I long for that day and the many that follow, the hope I have for the eternity ahead has become one of my greatest joys. ⠀

LOVE.⠀
I’ve been able to gain a better understanding of God’s love as our Father; the unconditional love, devotion, and foreknowledge that has prepared so many things ahead for you. I’ve learned how to trust God more as we prepare not just for the day you arrive but for the life that’s set before you. ⠀

I’m grateful for all you’ve taught me these past 33 weeks. You’ve grown my heart to love, not just you, but the people around me with a deeper, fuller, and supernatural love. I can’t wait to hold you in my arms. I love you so much, my sweet baby girl xx

It’s finally Wednesday! 😍🙈🥳

Every Wednesday this summer ☀️ (except for the few where we had to cancel due to torrential downpour ☔️), we bring our huge speakers and the reason to party to KIDS’ CLUB 🥳🤘🏾🤩 in the park!

This park, in the heart ❤️ of South Philly, serves as a place of joy (and great street food🌽🌮🍦🍛) for a community of people from all over the world. Additionally, it is a place of refuge for a large number of individuals and families who have had to fled their own home in hopes of a surviving future.
⠀⠀
I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn from tenacious, persevering kids, families, volunteers, and cultures that, despite all circumstances, continue to have hope for a better tomorrow. 💫AHHHHH Can’t wait for tonight!!! 🥰🙈😍

I’m learning how to dream again.

I once had my entire life mapped out - every detail coordinated and aligned in executable plans. 🦄 My confidence was dependent on having the full game plan for what’s ahead and equipping myself with as many certifications / degrees / accreditations I could fit on my resume. 🏆

When I gave my life to Christ, everything changed.

My once perfect “recipe for success”, now left a lingering taste of displeasure in my mouth. 🤮 He began to show me all the desires of my heart that were apart from Him, all the intentions that were slightly off from His call on my life. While God was showing me those things for my benefit, and to reveal the bigger purpose behind it all, I covered that area of my heart with shame and fled completely from it.

But, (as I said before) I’m learning how to dream again.

Now, I don’t have a perfect 3 step process nor a master checklist to follow. ✅ I didn’t throw out 🗑🚮 every single dream written down in my journal either! But I did pray about every. single. one. I’m learning to discern when some aspects of my ambitions are only to fuel my ego.

I dream of building open-source software that allows creativity, innovation, and collaboration to not be lost in translation. 💡👩🏽‍💻 It’s truly humbling when the desires He placed in my heart 💛so long ago begin to match up with the way that He’s prepared; always in a manner that I cannot take any credit for.

All of this is only to remind me of the true reason behind it all: to thank Him and give my life in service of others.🙏🏾

What dreams can I be praying with you for?✨
