City Beverage Tax, As you may have noticed retailers in the city have raised the prices of most of the beverage drinks for some beverages more than a $1.00 per item. This is due to the new beverage tax that the mayor and city council have imposed on the residents with the excuse that portion of the tax will fund pre-school children. We are all in favor of funding school children, but there has to be other ways for government to do their job without constantly raising taxes on the residents of the city. Enough is enough. Those elected need to understand they were not elected so they can raise taxes, they were elected to serve . Serve is the key word, ultimately their decisions effect all of us.
