Jade ACCT-A-88065 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Jade must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, or ADOPTER by Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026 at 10AM. Should Jade’s medical or behavioral status change, her urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Jade is a sensitive, gentle, and quietly loving girl who is looking for a calm, understanding home where she can finally feel safe and settle in at her own pace. She is currently feeling overwhelmed by the shelter environment, and in these moments she can be shy, unsure, and in need of reassurance—but underneath that worry is a very sweet, affectionate dog who deeply connects once she feels secure.

Jade has a soft and endearing personality and, in familiar or low-stress settings, she shows beautiful glimpses of her true self. She enjoys calm walks, sniffing in the grass, relaxing in the sunshine, and leaning into gentle affection from people she trusts. She has been described as very calm and easygoing in many volunteer interactions, often sitting nearby, enjoying quiet presence, and even engaging in a little toy play—especially with squeaky toys, which she has shown a sweet interest in.

With patience and a slow approach, Jade has also shown that she can relax and begin to explore the world again. She enjoys spending time outdoors at her own pace and has moments of curiosity and light play, though she is not currently very treat-motivated. She is fully housebroken per previous history and has lived successfully in a home for several years where she was described as calm, loving, and very attached to her people.

Because Jade is feeling especially sensitive right now, she is looking for a home that will go slowly, respect her boundaries, and allow her to build trust without pressure. She does best with calm handling and gentle introductions, and she appreciates people who let her come forward when she is ready. Once she feels safe, she has shown that she can lean into affection and enjoy companionship in a quiet, steady way.

Jade’s previous family described her as a “best friend” type of dog—loyal, loving, and happiest simply being near her people. She is now searching for a soft landing where she can decompress, rebuild her confidence, and rediscover the comfort of being a cherished companion.

5/11 - playgroup

5/12 - low energy, Jade was shaking in her bed, got an employee to assist me and went in and easily leashed her. Once outside, she enjoyed sitting on the bench and A frame and chased a squeaky toy a bit. Sweet girl

5/18 - low/medium energy, good on walk and on leash

5/19 - medium energy, very good going in and out of kennel, wiggly and happy to get out

5/20 - low/medium energy, housetrained, very easy going

5/22 - medium energy

5/23 - low energy, very calm and sweet, did enjoy pets

5/24 - low energy, calm, good on walk and on leash

5/24 - low energy, the sweetest, most calm girl

5/25 - low energy, uninterested in other dogs through the fence, super calm, loved pets in yard

5/26 - low energy, calm, gentle, sat and enjoyed the fresh air, breakfast and lunch kibble still in kennel. Not interested in treats

5/27 - low energy, lovely sweetie, not interested in treats, confidence up

er volunteer 5/24/26: "Jade is easy to leash, easy to walk. not interested in treats. somewhat interested to explore the yard. Easy to put back. "

Per volunteer 5/24/26: I took Jade out last night. What a calm girl. Easy to leash/walk and return to her kennel. Definitely house trained. It was raining outside so we were not out to long. She enjoyed soft pets

Per volunteer 5/21/26: seems to be very Housebroken. I love her calmness.

Per Volunteer 5/14/26: jade is really coming out her shell and doing more dog things easily now. She came to her kennel door to be leashed for a walk and got the zoomies once outside. She really enjoys sniffing and walking in the grass. Not interested in treats. Sweetie pie

Playgroup 5/13/26: Steer test: 3/5 with water and 3/5 with can

Came in the yard with wide eyes and tail down. Got up on the bench and stayed there the whole time in the yard. When a dog would come up to her she would turn her head away and paw lift.

Per volunteer 5/12: This sweet girl is missing her owner and working hard not to shut down. She was nervous to come out of her kennel but once outside relaxed and had lots of pets and a little bit of fun. She took interest in a squeaky toy and chased it a few times, returning to A Frame or bench to scan the parking lot for her owner. She knows sit (crooked sit) but not interested in treats. She comes in for pets and was very well mannered, might be a couch cuddler.

Playgroup 5/11/26: Loose at the gate with mid tail wags. Steerable 4 with water and 3 with can. Sat down in the yard, tolerated being sniffed then moved away and sat down by herself the remainder of her time in the yard.

Per volunteer 5/10/26: Sweet Jade (ACCT-A-88065) is looking for her forever home! She came to ACCT as a stray back in 2021, was adopted, then was surrendered in May 2026 when her elderly owner moved and couldn't bring her. The owner's daughter surrendered Jade saying that she'll be ideal for someone "looking for a best friend".

She's understandably very nervous in the shelter environment, but with a slow approach, she opens up into a playful girl who loves toys and scritches. She needs an understanding home that will let her move at her own pace and settle in for her golden years. Come meet her at ACCT any day from 10am-6pm!

Per volunteer 5/10/26: Kennel Presentation: Laying on her cot trembling with soft, scared eyes when I approached. Stood up and walked slowly toward me

Leash Skills: Stood still and allowed me to leash her very easily. Once secured, she got more confident. Minimal pulling on leash with a wagging tail throughout the kennel.

Sociability: Lots of owner searching in the yard and trying to hop into every car that she saw. After some exploring/sniffing on her own, she began to solicit more attention. She liked standing on the A-frame and watching the people going by. Allowed all handling and leaned into pets. She knows sit, showed no interest in treats.

Play: Liked a squeaky toy! She chased the toy and carried it back with her happily. Allowed me to take the toy from her mouth gently.

Dog Interaction: Gentle sniffs with Pattie through the fence, then disengaged.

Return to Kennel: Walked right in and easy to unleash

Color Level: Gol

Recommendations and considerations: Go slow and follow her lead, she's nervous and unsure in the shelter.

Per staff 5/9/26: Very nervous girl. Go slow when you pet her, no overhead movements. Don't recommend with anyone who may not respect boundaries/rush towards her.

Per staff 5/9/26: When I first went to go and get Jade out of her kennel she lowered herself back onto her bed so I opened the door and gave her a minute. I crouched down onto her level and she allowed me to slowly leash her. When I went to walk out she resisted but then jumped up quickly to join me. She walked well through the kennels and went right up to the meet and greet room with me. As soon as I opened the door she no longer wanted to walk so i baby talked her until she came with me. All three adopters were standing up and she stood there with her ears back and tail tucked. I asked if everyone could sit since she was nervous. They all sat down on the bench and Jade came up between my chair and the wall. I explained that this is the first time in her life that she hasn't been in a home. Slowly the adopters daughter walked up and crowded around Jade. I asked her to get on her level and she crouched for a minute. Her friend then walked up followed by her mom, and then she decided to stand up as well. She began to pet her and Jade bared her teeth at her. I let her know and she pulled her hand away but didn't back up. Her mom went and did the same thing and Jade bared her teeth again, this time angling her head up to stare at them too. I pointed this behavior out to them clearly and let them know that they need to back up. The adopter asked me "What does that mean?" and I let them know that she is trying to communicate that she needs space and that if her cue was ignored she could possibly bite. We ended the meet here.

Per staff 5/9/26: Adoption counselor will enter notes from adoption meet that resulted in dog becoming overwhelmed and asked for space by bearing her teeth. Meet was stopped. Offered food in kennel to help remove the leash and lower FAS, not eating.

Was set to go into playgroup but u asked ahead be given another day to avoid trigger stacking.

Per owner 5/7/26: Jade was surrendered by her owner of 7 years due to her elderly owner unfortunately moving away and being left with no one to take care of her. They described her as being a picky eater, loves belly rubs, loves treats, potty trained, good around people she knows but can be shy around strangers. Only barks when someone knocks on the door, she is friendly around other pets. They described her as being fully housebroken, noted that she lived inside, has medium energy, that she isn’t used to dog food (eats table food) and enjoys cheese wiz, knows sit, walk, and to go outside to use the bathroom. She was calm with her elderly owner and playful with her adult son. She is friendly with children, will bark if a stranger knocks on the door but is friendly, is good around cats and kittens, and is very calm and playful towards other dogs. When asked about her ideal home, they said anyone looking for a best friend.

Per staff 4/14/21 (Evaluation) -- Kennel Presentation - Easy to leash/social. Very excited to get out and had loose body language

Leash Skills - Pulls Strongly On Leash. Not very strong but is very excited and pulls. Needs to learn leash skills. Very social

Handleability - Loose/Allows all handling. Likes to play and frequently asks for interaction with people

Tag - Engages in play. Engages in loose body play and jumps on assessor

Toys - Interest but does not take possession. Will take toy and play but will drop readily and gets distracted by other toys and movement

Evaluated Gold. Saw a dog about 20 feet away; interested and tried to pull towards the dog but was able to be walked away fairly easily.

Recommend Running Team - has a lot of energy may be good for running team.

Per finder 4/13/21: Brought in by the police after being found as a stray. Described her as being friendly and scared

Rollie ACCT-A-249695 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Rollie must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, or ADOPTER by Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026 at 10AM. Should Rollie’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.
Rollie is a calm, gentle, and deeply endearing boy who has quickly become a favorite for his incredibly easygoing personality and soft, affectionate nature. He is the definition of a low-key companion—happy to move at your pace, whether that means a relaxed stroll through the yard or a quiet moment soaking up the sunshine. Volunteers consistently describe him as sweet, chill, and wonderfully polite on leash, often walking right by your side without pulling and taking in the world with quiet curiosity.

Rollie enjoys the simple things in life and seems most content when he can explore calmly, sniff around the yard, and then settle in close to his person for affection. He is very treat-motivated, takes snacks gently, and already knows “sit,” showing that he enjoys engaging in a calm, thoughtful way. While he doesn’t demand attention, he absolutely appreciates it—especially chest scratches and gentle pets, which he leans into with quiet appreciation once he feels comfortable.

With other dogs, Rollie has shown a mix of polite interest and relaxed social behavior. He has had calm fence greetings, has coexisted peacefully with other dogs in shared spaces, and at times has shown playful interest such as play bows and bouncy engagement. However, he can also be selective with his canine friends and may do best with slow, thoughtful introductions to ensure a good match. In one playgroup, after initially engaging in appropriate play and play pauses, he became uncomfortable with a particular interaction and escalated his response, suggesting that he may prefer compatible, respectful dog friends and structure in group settings.

Above all, Rollie shines as a peaceful, steady presence who seems happiest just being near his people. He would thrive in a home looking for a calm companion to share slow walks, cozy evenings, and lots of quiet companionship. With his gentle heart and mellow personality, Rollie is the kind of dog who makes everyday life feel a little softer and a lot more special.

Per volunteer 5/23: Oh, Rollie. He's a very quiet personality and was sitting in his run holding his body so tight and trembling, and he has quite the cold right now with his short muzzle making it tough to breathe, but in the time we were together, he relaxed, laid down, softened, and showed some hope in those sweet eyes. He has a little baby tail and seems like he's a Shar Pei mix.

He's a very mellow dude; easy to walk with and lovely to hang with. I think he would blossom so beautifully in a home of his own.

Per volunteer 5/22: Rollie is so gentle and laid back. He could easily be a green dog from my experience with him. Easy to walk, docile, perfectly happy to just lay down next to you in the sunshine and get some pets. Such a sweet dog with such a sad, endearing face. I so hope he finds the happiness he deserves.

Per staff 5/22/26: Meet Rollie (ACCT-A-249695), a sweet and gentle soul who is ready to find his forever home! Rollie is the definition of a "chill" companion. Whether he is snoozing peacefully on his bed or greeting you with a soft gaze and a wagging tail, he is a pleasure to be around.

Rollie is a very calm boy who is easy to handle. He walks nicely on leash without pulling. Rollie is very treat-motivated and sits patiently to receive snacks, which he takes with extreme gentleness.

While he is low-energy and enjoys exploring his environment at a relaxed pace, he also appreciates human affection and will happily lean in for chest scratches. If you are looking for a sweet, easygoing partner for leisurely strolls and quiet evenings at home, Rollie is your guy!

Per volunteer 5/19/26: "i’ve taken Rollie out several times now and each time he’s been very chill, Walks great on the leash no pulling. He wasn’t really interested in the treats, but he enjoyed sniffing around the yard. He is low energy and really just wants to explore his environment. He saw another dog while we were out and was non-reactive. Very sweet boy!"

Per volunteer 5/17/26: Easy to leash, came right to the front. Walked nicely on the leash, no pulling Yes, I handled the dog. He didnt seek more attention but accepted all pets. Rollie was much more interested in the treats I had. Needed a little help going back into kennel ( needed to take a step in or toss a treat in) Rollie is very calm and easy to walk. He sits patiently for treats and is very gentle when taking the treats.

Playgroup 5/11/26: Steerable 4/5 for both water and can. Play bows at the gate. Bouncy play and good play pauses. Later on lip licked when Hondour was sniffing him and over corrected Hondour with snapping, ears back, high tail and continued following Hondour as he moved away. Staff used pet corrector and air horn to stop it.

Per staff 5/10/26 (Regarding meet with Rawr): Loose body, good greetings, interested in sniffing, when Rawr moved away he would sniff around the yard.

Per staff 5/10/26: Walking past kennel, stopped and noticed dog. Dog was laying on kuranda bed asleep. Once noticed handler, got up and approached with soft eyes and loose wag (or as loose as possible due to nature of curled tail). Not tense. Appears handler motivated.

Per staff 5/9/26 (Regarding meet with Snoop): Tolerant, tense and displacement sniffing

Per volunteer 5/8/26:

Kennel presentation: He came to the front of his kennel when I made some noises. He had soft eyes. I easily leashed him.

Leash Skills: Walks well on leash and did not pull. He does stop to sniff. He also seems to have a limp.

Sociability: Takes treats gently. After having some pepperoni, I gave him some chest scratches which he accepted. I used my leash to pet his back and his paw lifted so I stopped there.

Play & Toys: Did not attempt.

Dog interaction (must be on video if meeting face-to-face): Walked by some dogs and he kept walking with no reactions to them.

Returning to kennel: He needed some leash pressure and I stepped one foot in.

Color level: Gold

5/7/26: Rollie was dropped off at a police station and was brought to the shelter by police. They noted that he got into the car fine and that he has a limp and appears malnourished

Tyson ACCT-A-251398 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to medical concerns. Tyson must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER by SATURDAY, MAY 30TH at 10AM. Should Tyson's medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Tyson arrived as a stray on May 28th and made an immediate impression on staff. While waiting to be intaked, he was spotted in the hallway showing loose, relaxed body language, soft eyes, and a steady wag — even throwing in some happy tippy tappies for good measure. He pulls a bit on leash and enjoys taking in all the smells. He also pulled hard when meeting another dog, but disengaged on his own and went back to sniffing around.

Tyson's primary medical concern is a ruptured mass on his left shoulder that is producing foul-smelling discharge and requires follow-up veterinary care. He has been started on antibiotics and pain medication. He would also benefit from losing some weight. Tyson is a big, gentle senior dog who deserves a rescue ready to give him the care — and the couch — he's earned. Due to his medical concerns, Tyson is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner.

Chevy Chase ACCT-A-245956 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Chevy must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER, or ADOPTER by Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026 at 10AM. Should Chevy’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change.

Chevy enjoys taking his time on walks, exploring at his own pace, and staying connected with his handler. He walks nicely on leash and is known to be very manageable and polite during outings.

This handsome boy is smart and well-trained—he already knows cues such as sit, lay, off, and cage, and he appears to be crate trained and mostly housetrained. In playgroup, Chevy has shown fun, social energy with other dogs. He has participated in playful interactions, including running and gentle push/pull play, and tends to enjoy dogs who match his friendly, social style. He is social in the yard, enjoys greeting other dogs, and has shown the ability to both engage and appropriately move away when needed.

Chevy’s previous family shared that he lived successfully in a home with adults, toddlers, dogs, and cats, and that he has experience as a well-loved family dog. He enjoys toys such as squeaky toys, chew toys, and balls, and thrives when included in daily life and given companionship. He may especially enjoy having another friendly dog in the home, but is also happy to bond closely with his people.

Overall, Chevy Chase is a loving, fun, and well-rounded dog who brings a nice balance of playfulness and calm companionship. He is ready to bring joy, loyalty, and affection to a home that will continue to support him as he settles in and shines even brighter.

They called him Chase and described him as being pretty happy, low energy, noted that he lived with young adults, toddlers, dogs and cats, and was crate trained, working on house training, and walked well on leash. They also noted that he would sometimes chew on household items and likely has some separation anxiety, as he would cry and whine when left alone or bored. He enjoys squeaky toys, chew toys, and balls. He is friendly with strangers, friendly and gentle with children, friendly, gentle, and afraid of cats, and that he loves other dogs. When asked about his ideal home, they said “someone who can have the time to give him love all day if not then a home with another dog so he's not sad and bored.”

Per staff 4/15/26: Very tolerant. Was quiet and calm. Allowed pets from everyone but solicited more from adults. Adopters have a spare room that he will stay in to decompress. Adopters were comfortable with the aloof behavior and understood he needed time to open up. Adopters were very receptive about having the kids come up one at a time and giving him space.

Walk sheet Notes:

4/4- Very scared to come out of kennel so they had issues getting him out, had to go slow, warmed up with treats, skittish, sniffed a lot on the walk, no issues walking through kennels and mildly hesitant to come back in, significantly shy and low energy. enjoyed other dogs through the fence, very treat motivated

4/5- moderate issues getting out of the kennel, no issues coming back in and barely showing any shyness, scared at first but he is very sweet

4/6- mild issues going through kennels, no issues reported otherwise, had a good fence meet with a welcome center neighbor

4/7- no issues reported on walk, moderately showing shyness, nervous but sweet, good boy!

4/8- no issues reported on walk, low energy, likes to take his time, very good boy

4/9- no issues reported! low energy and very scared

4/9- shy, nervous, go slow, exit searched in the yard, tolerant of handling

Per volunteer 04/09/2026: Kennel Presentation:Chase greets you at the front of his kennel with a neutral body and soft eyes. He may keep his tail tucked and can be a bit flinchy when first introducing the leash, but he allows leashing without much difficulty.

Leash Skills:Chase pulls moderately on leash but is manageable. He appears to be housebroken or is making an effort to keep his space clean.

Sociability:In the yard, Chase enjoys exploring his surroundings and did some mild exit searching at times, but would also check in with his handler. While he doesn’t actively seek out affection, he is tolerant of handling. He can be a bit sensitive to fast movements, especially around his face, and may flinch or lower his body when unsure.

Chase already knows cues like “sit” and “off,” and he takes treats nicely from your hand. At times, he may show subtle signs of stress (like lip licking or yawning)

Toys and play: no interest

Dog interactions: did not meet a dog

Returning to kennel: no issues

Color: blue

Per staff 4/9/26: Chevy Chase is a sweet, well-mannered dog who was surrendered alongside his buddy, Skye, after spending two loving years in the same home. These two have never been separated, and they thrive together, so we’re looking for a home where they can stay side by side.

Chevy Chase is a well-trained house dog who is crate trained and mostly housetrained. He knows several commands including sit, stop, lay, go, cage, and off, and walks well on leash. He has a medium to high energy level, loves to play, and is affectionate with both adults and children. While he enjoys meeting new people, Chevy Chase tends to bark at other dogs and has not been around cats.

This playful, loving duo is ready to find a home that can give them the care and companionship they deserve. If you’re looking for two loyal, joyful dogs to welcome into your family, Chevy Chase and Skye might just be the perfect pair!

Per owner 4/4/26: Chase & Skye are bonded and very sweet dogs. They never been separated. They are also house dogs

Per owner 4/4/26: Chase (renamed Chevy Chase at the shelter due to a duplicate) was surrendered alongside another dog (Skye) after being in the home for 2 years. The owner was unfortunately no longer able to afford their care. The owner noted that they are very well-trained house dogs who loved with adults, are crate trained, mostly housetrained, high/medium energy, has never bitten, and walks well on leash. They know commands: sit, stop, lay, go, cage, and off. They are playful with strangers and children, have never been around cats, and will bark at other dogs.

Medical Notes:

5/7/26: Chevy Chase has a Grade II/VI systolic heart murmur
