Tired but astronomically happy.

There is a fellow that lives in the neighborhood who is probably 10 or 15 years older than me and was born in Vietnam. He has only the second half of each foot bc he stepped on a land mine when he was nine. Sometimes he comes to the Hub and he gets snacks and sodas and toilet paper and whatever else he may need. I could not think of a better use for your money. Thank you. ❤️

How did I get so lucky to be the recipient of such messages?????

Ever since I was young my dream was to marry a very rich man and use his money to make the world the place I knew it could be.

As a ‘Professional Philanthropist’ I would have the resources to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless and bring everyone up to the same standard of living I enjoyed. Inequality truly filled my 6th grade brain with so much rage and, honestly, it’s only gotten worse since.

Last week, when picking up some produce donations I met a family of 9 who had recently emigrated to the United States and really needed help. Today I drove up to their house and dropped off three huge bags of food, some household and cleaning supplies, diapers, and a 12 pack of Coca-cola.

I do not need a rich husband to change the world because I have the Papermill Food Hub. The donors who make this possible allow me to provide immediate and effective help to humans who need it. And as I listen to my military history podcasts driving around the city I could not be happier.

I was 33 when I started the hub and on Tuesday I turned 39. I fully believed for the first 33 years of my life that this world was a terrible place full of terrible people. Since then I’ve experienced hope.

Thank you to the whole Hub Club the world over. You feed and help so many people and you’ve changed me entirely.

For Giving Tuesday the Papermill Food Hub would like to thank our friends at the Giving Tree!!! Over the past few years, multiple times a year, I will get an email from Bridget and her team seeing if I can pick up some boxes from them.

These boxes are always filled with beautifully decorated bags stuffed full with snacks, breakfasts, packets of easily made food. School supplies and thoughtful notes. Assembled by children *for* children they could not be more thoughtful, sweet, and exactly right for the kids in our families!
