Forbidden Drive's Premiere Low Brass Quartet Forbidden Brass is a Philadelphia-based low brass ensemble.

While they specialize in jazzy, toe-tapping favorites, their musical versatility allows them to happily adapt to any situation. In search of a fresh brass ensemble experience, in fall of 2021 Josy Conklin invited like-minded friends Keith Genzlinger, Dan McGahey, and Tom Steele to meet in centrally-located Wissahickon Valley Park in a pavilion on Forbidden Drive, which ultimately led to their name

Setting up for a random outdoor rehearsal on Forbidden Drive. Gotta stay true to our namesake at least once per season!

More shots from Glenside Porchfest Saturday! It was drizzling but turnout was surprisingly good. We were ready to go by 12:45 and nothing else was happening so we started a little early 😳 but nobody seemed to mind. Gave us more time to be heckled 😆 Isn't our host Carol's porch *beautiful?* It was a fun afternoon! Do *you* have a favorite porchfest?

Glenside Porchfest was great! Carol's beautiful porch kept us cozy in the drizzle, and we picked up a new baritone player—say hello to Gemma from Glenside!! (She is also quite a heckler)

More (horizontal) photos of the event to come in a different post—stay tuned 🎵

We regret to announce that our Chestnut Hill Farmers' Market debut has been **CANCELED** due to a lousy weather forecast 🌧️😭 Watch this space for a possible reschedule in upcoming weeks!

A market with Mother's Day on the mind, with special guests Warwick Furnace Lavender Farm, with lots of flowers and plants, great food and gifts, and if the weather cooperates a performance from the Wissahickon's own Forbidden Brass Band.

Keep your fingers crossed🤞for good weather, but we're hoping to play this Saturday 9-11am for the Chestnut Hill Farmers' Market!

What on earth...? We're playing at TWO events this Saturday 5/9! They're both gonna be great!

9:00-11:00 we'll be entertaining the fine shoppers and vendors at the Chestnut Hill Farmers' Market ! Located at intersection of Germantown Avenue and Mermaid Lane, in front of The Mermaid Inn (you can GPS to 7673 Germantown Ave, Philadelphia, PA, and find parking on side streets). It's a good lineup! - https://egreenevents.com/chestnut-hill-fm

Then we'll immediately skedaddle up & over to kick off the first ever Glenside Porchfest ! We're playing 1:00-1:30, performing on the porch of 327 Roberts Ave, Glenside, PA (thank you porch owners! ❤️). The event has ~70 acts and will go 1-7pm. Also an excellent lineup! - https://glensidecivic.org/porchfest/

Even if you're not into brass (pfffft 🙄), there's so much else to enjoy this Saturday. Hope to see you at one or both events!

Happy International Tuba Day! Aside from our obvious connection with the holiday, did you know the inventor of the holiday, Joel Day, is Dan's brother-in-law?!

Confused about how to celebrate? Drop a little note of appreciation to the tuba players in your life! 🥰

Cairnwood Village : You are always such a great audience! We might say that about all our audiences but we MEAN it about you! Thank you for letting us perform for you last night 🥰
