The Riggs Foundation helping families one story at a time. Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a condition that affects people around the world.

Due to the serious health problems associated with SCD there is a need to know more about the disease. Sickle cell disease (SCD) affects people of many racial and ethnic groups. In the United States, 90,000 to 100,000 people―mainly Blacks or African Americans―have SCD.

What began as a family mission of compassion has grown into a beacon of hope, providing education, resources, and relief to households managing this lifelong condition.

Our purpose is to stand with each family’s story, helping them navigate challenges through advocacy, community outreach, and seasonal giving programs. We believe that every act of kindness strengthens the village that sustains these brave warriors and their loved ones.
