Today we’re celebrating Kyrstin and the important work she does in clinical research at Shafer Vision Institute.

Research is an essential part of advancing eye care. It allows us to explore new treatments and technologies, expand what’s possible in ophthalmology, and ultimately help shape the future of patient care.

Kyrstin’s dedication and attention to every detail help make this work possible, and we’re so grateful for the role she plays in moving our research forward. Thank you, Kyrstin, for all that you do for our patients, our research, and SVI team!

Buffy brought a friend to work today! Meet Mickey 🥹🐾

This little girl grew up to become the amazing person we’re celebrating today! We recently celebrated Christa’s one year at Shafer Vision Institute! 💙

As our Patient Access Team Lead, Christa has been such an important part of SVI over the past year. Her hard work, kindness, and willingness to always help wherever needed have made such a difference to both our team and our patients.

This anniversary is extra special as Christa prepares for an exciting new chapter! This October, she’ll be heading to Italy to attend the University of Padua, where she’ll pursue her Master’s in Management for Sustainable Firms. 🇮🇹🎓

We are going to miss her so much, but we couldn’t be more excited for everything ahead. Thank you, Christa, for all you’ve brought to SVI. We’re so lucky to have had you as part of our family and will always be cheering you on!✨

We’re excited to welcome Shoshana, our optometry intern, and Dr. Shreya Bhatt, our ophthalmology resident to SVI!

✨Meet Shoshana✨
Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, Shoshana is a fourth-year student at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She earned her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Nova Southeastern University and is excited to continue developing her clinical skills at Shafer Vision, with a special interest in surgical co-management and ocular disease.

Outside of clinic, Shoshana loves traveling and playing the piano. She’s been a classically trained pianist since she was six years old! 🎶

✨Meet Dr. Bhatt✨
Dr. Shreya Bhatt graduated from Nova Southeastern University KPCOM in 2026 and is currently completing an ophthalmology rotation with Shafer Vision as part of her intern year. She’s excited to learn alongside Dr. Shafer and our team while continuing to grow her skills in ophthalmology.

Outside of ophthalmology, Dr. Bhatt enjoys dancing, baking, traveling, and exploring new places with friends and family. She especially loves being outdoors, whether she’s hiking or spending time by the beach! 🌊

We’re so happy to have Shoshana and Dr. Bhatt with us and look forward to being part of their journey! 💙

We’re so excited to welcome the newest member of the SVI team, our Surgery Coordinator, Melissa! 💙

With nearly 9 years of experience in ophthalmology, Melissa brings a wealth of knowledge from her time working in pediatrics, general ophthalmology, and oculoplastics.

Melissa is passionate about building meaningful relationships with her patients and making sure they feel comfortable, confident, and supported throughout every step of their surgical journey.

Outside of SVI, you can find Melissa spending time with family and friends, cuddling with her dog Hamlet , playing soccer, attending concerts, getting lost in a good book, or cheering on her favorite Philadelphia sports teams! 🦅⚾️ She’s also recently taken up golf, which she says has quickly become both her most frustrating and one of her favorite hobbies!🤣

We’re so happy to have Melissa joining the SVI family! Please help us give her a warm welcome! 💙
