How using a DMO Can Improve Your Productivity & Results

As you move through your day, do you feel like you’re spinning your wheels? When you think about your day’s completed tasks, does it feel like you’re not progressing toward your goals?

Have you fallen into the habit of leaving the most important things until the end of the day when energy may be lagging?

Do you find yourself not getting the most important tasks done which of course leads to inconsistency in results?

If this applies to you, it may be time to consider a DMO, or daily method of operation for your business.

A DMO is simply a ritual, practice or daily routine. It is your daily success plan. It is a framework of activities you accomplish in a day. This is not a schedule for one specific day, but rather the activities you do daily. The tasks of the day can be strategically ordered to maximize efficiency, energy and timing.

When you have a simple and clearly defined DMO, you’ll be able to get the important things done, before getting lost in the minutia of lesser important tasks. The DMO lays a foundation to your day that you’ll be able to build on, day after day, to create results. The daily activities may not take a lot of time but the results will compound. After using a DMO for a week or two, you’ll start getting into a rhythm that will enable you to perform your tasks with less effort. Use of a DMO facilitates thinking productively, making decisions, and taking action from a focused, centered, and purposeful place. It helps to make things easier when you have that solid foundation.

Putting It Into Action: Defining your DMO comes down to identifying the top 5-7 activities in your business that will create revenue. Set a weekly goal for these activities. Create a grid of these activities. You can assign the critical activities to a time bucket, e.g. from 10a-11a. The time buckets can be consistent or not. Track your results daily, weekly. Obtain an accountability partner or group. Before you know it, you will be accomplishing things you may not have thought you could.
