We’re excited to share renderings of the future Carousel House Recreation Center, a transformational $44 million investment that will become Rebuild’s largest project to date, Philadelphia’s flagship recreation center, and one of the best universally accessible recreation facilities in the nation!

Designed with and for the disability community, families, neighbors, and program participants, the new Carousel House was shaped by hundreds of stakeholders and will deliver a world-class, fully accessible experience for people of all ages and abilities.

What’s coming:
• A 2-court gym with a mobility loop for walking and exercise
• A lap pool and activity pool with a sloping entrance into the water
• Adaptive fitness equipment, sensory rooms, and flexible program spaces
• Art & ceramics, computer, and multi-purpose rooms
• An inclusive playground designed for users of different ages and abilities

The new Carousel House is being designed through an adaptive reuse approach that honors the history of this beloved facility while expanding it to better serve future generations.

This is more than a renovation. It’s the return of a place that has meant so much to so many, and it’s a once-in-a-generation investment to create a space where every Philadelphian can participate and belong.

We’re cutting the ribbon at West Mill Creek Playground! 🎉

Join Councilmember Jamie Gauthier, the Capital Program Office, and Philadelphia Parks & Recreation to cut the ribbon on a transformed West Mill Creek Playground and Brown Street Plaza - phase two of a $4.5 million investment completed in just six months!

The renovations at West Mill Creek brought new playground equipment, basketball court improvements, public art, lighting, fencing, site furnishings, and greener, safer spaces for the community to gather, play, and connect.

Shout out to everyone who braved the rain today to break ground on a $5 million project at Russo Park - the third Rebuild groundbreaking in a month!

This project includes a new state-of-the-art turf field, basketball courts, site furnishings, lighting, critical stormwater infrastructure, and landscaping, including 89 new trees!

A big thank you to Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, Councilmember Mike Driscoll, Rep. Pat Gallagher, Senator Joe Picozzi, Dr. Liz Pando and St. Hubert Catholic High School for Girls. And, first and foremost, every community member who supports Russo.

Construction is moving at Cecil B. Moore Rec!

This $20 million project is receiving all the bells and whistles.

We’re building a brand-new, 15,000-square-foot recreation center complete with a basketball gym, boxing gym, computer lab, multi-purpose rooms, upgraded restrooms, and a new auditorium!

And that's not all - outside, the investment continues with:

• A refinished basketball court with upgraded lighting
• Expanded green space, new trees, and pedestrian pathways
• Improved accessibility and stormwater infrastructure
• New security cameras and site lighting
• A new pool lift and accessible connections throughout the site
• New gathering spaces, including an amphitheater with custom seating made from stone salvaged from the original building steps

That salvaged stone means a piece of C.B. Moore’s 100-year history will live on in the next generation of this space.

This morning we broke ground on an exciting $4 million project at Cherashore Playground. This project will transform and modernize the building and the 5.2-acre site with new sports courts, tennis, adult fitness, and more.
