Nothing better than the sound of a clean hand-cut trim 😎🪚
After letting the glue cure overnight, it was time to pull the clamps and clean things up. For this one, I skipped the power tools — a pull saw and patience gave me full control for that perfect flush cut. Smooth, simple, and satisfying.
A quick hand-sand and we’re ready for laminate next. This miter station is really starting to come together!
Back in the shop and back at it 👊
After a little break for family, vacation, and the back-to-school rush — it’s time to get back to the Benchmark Miter Station build!
This week I’m trimming out the tops with hard maple, tackling some clean 30° and 60° angles, and testing out these KNAPP snap-style biscuit connectors for the first time — total game changer for trim work. ⚙️
Add a little glue, a few clamps, and some Starbond superglue tricks, and this thing is coming together perfectly.
🪚 Slow and steady wins in woodworking — measure twice, cut once!
The miter station tops are finally coming together! 🪚 I built a ½” base frame to bring the tops up to an even 2” once the trim goes on. Then I laminated two sheets of MDF, glued and temporarily screwed down for pressure. Once everything cured, the screws came out (because nobody wants a router bit hitting hidden metal 🤦♂️). After that, I flush trimmed the tops using the base frame as a template — clean, square, and ready for the next step.
I’ll be honest though — this build has been moving slower than planned. Between a family vacation in Myrtle Beach 🌊 and my little peanut starting full-time Pre-K 🎒, life has been BUSY. Sometimes reels and content just have to take a back seat. But I know a lot of us makers feel that same struggle… balancing a side hustle, a day job, family, chores, and maybe a little time for ourselves.
For me, this shop time IS my time. The noise of the world fades out, and it’s just me and the sawdust. Some days it chokes me, but most days it keeps me sane. This isn’t just woodworking anymore — it’s therapy.
If you’re still following along on this build series, thanks for sticking with me! Plenty more to come as this beast of a station comes together.

The vision is becoming reality.
Here’s a first look at the business concept — and some early renderings straight from my head to the screen. This is the start of a tech-centric, high-quality furniture brand built for a niche market: pieces designed specifically to integrate the technology you use every day.
No more generic furniture that almost works. No more awkward cable runs or clunky device setups. These designs hide cables, integrate devices, and put thoughtful details front and center.
I’m building this from the ground up — new shop, new ideas, and plenty of wins (and a few lessons learned) along the way.
Follow along to see the journey unfold — from prototypes to finished pieces, shop build-outs, and the behind-the-scenes process.
Next month’s to-do list:
Build the first prototype for real-world testing and content
Refresh the website landing page
Continue prepping the shop for future projects
We’re just getting started. 🚀

Feeling a little nostalgic today.
With everything shifting and growing at WoodTech, I’ve been thinking back to where it all started…
One of the first real builds I did in the WoodTech basement was this classic Rubio-style workbench — built entirely with Home Depot lumber. No jointer. No fancy machines. Just a hand plane, some determination, and a whole lot of mistakes along the way.
But I finished it. I still use this bench today.
Could I rebuild it now in solid maple with perfectly milled parts? Sure. But it wouldn’t mean the same. This bench reminds me what it’s all about — showing up, figuring it out, and building anyway.

📍Day 1 - The Temporary Miter Station Setup
Here it is… the humble beginnings of what will soon be a 22-foot BEAST of a miter station right here at . This current setup has been the trusty jobsite companion while the Big, Beastly, Benchmark Miter Station Build (BBBMSB 😎) comes to life piece by piece over the last few weeks.
📏You can still see the blue tape on the floor marking out the full footprint of the final build — it’s gonna be massive. The new station will include:
8 custom maple veneer base cabinets
Full-length fence + stops
Built-in dust extraction
Storage for days
And of course… that sweet custom WoodTech LogixX finish 💥
💬I’m documenting the full journey right here and on YouTube — and I’d love your input:
👉 What features would YOU include in a dream miter station?
👉 Any shop upgrades you’ve made that you now can’t live without?
