🐇 ECUN-360: Virtual Conference on Encephalitozoon cuniculi in Rabbits

Missed ECUN-360 live? The science waits for no one — but thankfully, the recording does!

Presented by the University of Miami Avian & Wildlife Laboratory, this comprehensive 5-hour program brings together nine expert clinicians and researchers covering:
• The biology and epidemiology of E. cuniculi
• Diagnostic approaches and clinical reasoning
• Treatment strategies and current consensus
• Case presentations with practical discussion
• In-depth Q&A

If you manage rabbits in general practice, specialty, shelter, or referral settings, this is high-yield content that bridges theory and day-to-day decision-making.

Because few pathogens have generated as much debate, diagnostic confusion, and clinical nuance in rabbit medicine as E. cuniculi. Staying current matters.

It has been busy at the shelter! The amount of strays we have been contacted about has been way more than ever before. We aren't sure if it is the Easter rabbits that are no longer wanted, or because things are slowly returning to normal, so people don't want their quarantine pets any more. Breeders and pet stores don't ensure people are fully educated on how much work is involved in having a rabbit as a pet- especially one that is not spayed/neutered! But please, spread the word that people should NOT release their pet rabbits outside. They don't have the skills to survive out there. This is Athena, she came in covered in burrs deep in her fur. Another girl was found walking the streets only 2 blocks from the shelter!
You can help by supporting our Open House coming up June 13th. We will have online raffles posted starting June 5th. We appreciate everything you do for us, and these sweet buns!

Luv n Bunns $5 Fridays!

$5 FRIDAY

You might remember Anna as the mom bunny, rescued along with her babies from the Lancaster rescue back in February/March. Anna had a severe infection on her foot and had to have her leg amputated. She's recovering beautifully and was also spayed, but her hospital bills are impressive! We're dedicating this $5 Friday to Anna ❤

BUNNY CARE CORNER

Good morning and Hoppy Wednesday! How is everyone today? I sure hope you're feeling inquisitive, because I am here to request your opinions and suggestions for future BCC columns. Is there anything special you'd like to to hear about when it comes to bunny care? Maybe you're looking for tips on getting your bunn to exercise more. Maybe you are new to the area and looking for a list of rabbit-savvy vets. Maybe you're in search of creative ways to bunnyproof your home. Maybe you'd like to know about housing, or rabbit diets, or simply why bunnies are so cute.

(That one I can answer right now : obviously we are just born that way!)

But seriously, friends, don't be shy! Share your questions in the comments section below. I love talking with you every week and am always on the search for topics that interest you. Please let me know what those are. I will get my typing paws ready!

Until next time ...
