Juneteenth (a contraction of the words "June" and "nineteenth") commemorates the official end of slavery in the United States.
On this day in 1865, Union troops reached Galveston, Texas — more than two years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.
As we acknowledge this important anniversary, we reaffirm our commitment to the fight for true justice, equality, and solidarity.
Wishing you a meaningful Juneteenth!
