🚨 ** 2026 Cholesterol Guidelines Just Dropped** 🫀
And they change something BIG…

👉 We are now looking at **cholesterol risk MUCH earlier in life.**

Here are the biggest changes from the old 2018 guidelines:

👶 **Screen kids earlier**
Heart disease can start early. **Kids should be screened at age 9-11. **

🧑 **Screen adults starting at age 19**
We are no longer waiting until middle age to look for problems.

📉 **Lower LDL goals**
Doctors now want **“bad cholesterol” even lower** to protect the heart.

🧬 **New risk markers are being used more**
Tests like **Lp(a), ApoB, and coronary calcium scans** can help find hidden risk.

⚡ **The big message:**
Heart disease prevention is starting **earlier than ever before.**

Heart disease remains the ** #1 cause of death**, but these new strategies aim to **prevent events earlier and reduce lifetime risk.**

🆕 ACC/AHA Guideline on the Management of Dyslipidemia offers a comprehensive “one-stop shop” for addressing the evaluation, management and monitoring of individuals with dyslipidemias, including high blood cholesterol, hypertriglyceridemia, and elevated Lp[a].

The document consolidates evidence-based recommendations for managing dyslipidemias and retires and replaces the 2018 Guideline on the Management of Blood Cholesterol.

Starting June 9, 2025, our PSJA Child Nutrition Program in partnership with the Texas Department of Agriculture, will provide free breakfast and lunch to children 18 and under.

Dates:
June 9 - 27, 2025
August 4-15, 2025

Serving Times:
Breakfast: 7:30 am - 8:30 am
Lunch: 11:30 am - 12:30 pm
