Austin ISD trustees are grappling with a projected $95 million shortfall as they prepare to vote on next year's budget. ๐ฌ
The district's savings have fallen to half of what board policy requires, and enrollment dropped by more than 3,000 students below projections. Officials say immigration policy changes and declining property values have contributed to the financial strain.
The proposed reduction package has grown to $185 million and includes campus cuts, staffing reductions and changes to transportation. Some trustees say they're not ready to approve the budget as presented and are calling for additional revisions.
