As data centers continue expanding across Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott has issued an order aimed at balancing industry growth with the needs of residents and communities. ๐๏ธโก๏ธ

STAAR results are in for Texas high schoolers. ๐
The TEA released spring 2026 end-of-course exam scores June 10, showing gains in every subject statewide. Commissioner Mike Morath credited focused classroom instruction โ and possibly the new cellphone ban โ for the improvement. Results for grades 3โ8 will be released June 16.

A second case of New World screwworm has been confirmed in South Texas, the U.S. Department of Agriculture announced. The flesh-eating parasite was found in a one-month-old calf about 5.6 miles from the first detection in Zavala County. ๐
Gov. Greg Abbott expanded a state disaster declaration and emphasized that while infestations can spread, "Texas is resilient" and eradication is possible.

Federal and state officials are responding to the first domestic detection of New World screwworm in a decade after a case was confirmed on a South Texas cattle ranch. ๐ฎ
The USDA established a 20-kilometer infested zone around the La Pryor detection site with quarantines and movement controls. Officials said the screwworm feeds on live animals and does not infect meat or other food sources, and they do not anticipate issues with the food supply chain.
Industry leaders are urging Texans to monitor their livestock, pets and nearby wildlife to ensure the infestation does not spread.

ERCOT expects record electricity demand this summer as temperatures rise and data centers expand across Texas. ๐โ๏ธ

In a battle of state senators, Sens. Nathan Johnson, D-Dallas, and Mayes Middleton, R-Galveston, are poised to appear on the Texas attorney general ballot this November.
With 244 of Texasโ 254 counties reporting some election results May 26, unofficial election results show Johnson beating former Galveston Mayor Joe Jaworski with 59.14% of the vote to Jaworski's 40.86%

In a battle of state senators, Sens. Nathan Johnson, D-Dallas, and Mayes Middleton, R-Galveston, are poised to appear on the Texas attorney general ballot this November.
With 244 of Texasโ 254 counties reporting some election results May 26, unofficial election results show Middleton beating U.S. Rep. Chip Roy with 55.8% of the vote to Royโs 44.2%.
