Perry Volunteer Outreach

a weekly BINGO day for area senior citizens - Christmas celebrations, food boxes and toys programs - and offering spiritual and financial guidance. We partner with various other ministries in our community to assist those in need. Some of those include: Loaves and Fishes - a local interfaith food bank; Thee Lord’s Table - a local soup kitchen offering weekly meals to the hungry (hosted by Christ Lutheran Church of Perry); and Samritan’s Closet - a local used clothing thrift store and service. January 4, 2010 saw the dawn of a new ministry as Grace Village, a women’s homeless shelter and rehabilitation center, opened to offer women and their children a 90 day refuge of encouragement and training to help them face the challenges of life. Our passion is to reach out to those reaching up - extending the grace of God to those in need not only of physical relief but also of spiritual restoration. We are supported by donations from area churches, civic organizations, businesses, schools, and individuals. PVO is a legally recognized 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation and gladly gives tax receipts for all donations. The Staff of Perry Volunteer Outreach includes:

Frank Shelton - After many years of success in business, Frank Shelton sold his business, Utility Service, based in Perry, GA to retire from the business world and stepped into a world of giving to those in need. His heart’s desire was to reach out to those caught in the desperation of life’s challenges. Along side several others from the community, Mr. Shelton established PVO in 2000 and thus began an incredible journey of ministry to the poor and elderly. This visionary faithfully tends to the day-to-day administration of all the activities of Perry Volunteer Outreach. His vast business experience and his heart of compassion guide an organization with a passion to serve Christ by tending to the “least of these” as directed by the Lord in Matthew 25. Pope, a retired educator in Houston County, Georgia, has served as the Chairman of the board of Directors for Perry Volunteer Outreach since it inception. She has been a long-time faithful servant of the community. Among the many, many, many service and organizational energies she spends, Loaves and Fishes, a local charitable food bank is also blessed by her leadership and hard work.
