When someone thinks of research they may think of a scientist in a lab doing experiments to figure out the ways of the world. While that may be true, research can be so much more. Research can be scientific or it can be creative. Undergraduate research can be in any discipline and major! While research can is different amongst all the UWF majors and programs, the bottom line is the same: research is for exploration and discovery.
Undergraduate research can be beneficial to students in various ways such as:
1.) acquiring research, communication, and professional skills
2.) developing critical thinking, self-confidence, and creativity
3.) engaging a deeper understanding of a discipline or potential career path and
4.) strengthening preparation for graduate or professional school, or the workforce.

Hi Argos!
It seems like this fall semester flew by. Final exams and papers were stressing us all out, but there is a great service available from your UWF library that can help you relax just a bit. Our interlibrary loan service lets you request almost any book, journal article, or movie to be delivered here for your convenience. I use this service not just for academic purposes, but also for fun reads!
One such item I recently requested was Wonder by Emma Donoghue. This novel introduces the reader to a little girl named Anna who has survived for several weeks without needing any food or drink. She has the community in an uproar, and one nurse, Lib, is at her wits end trying to figure out how this is possible.
Are there books you want to read that maybe UWF libraries donโt have? You can submit ILL requests using MyUWF. Simply search for โinterlibrary loanโ in the search bar, and then follow the steps on that page and subsequent form. Have questions about the service? Let us know! Any staff member will be happy to walk you through the process.
Read on, and happy holidays, Argos!

How has the library helped Jake, a legal studies major?

An honor and a privilege! Last week, University of West Florida President Saunders dedicated one of our Pace Library semester carrels to Dr. George Ellenberg, Provost, Senior Vice President, and Professor of History. Dr. Ellenberg has been a longtime supporter of the Libraries, conducting research in his scholarly interest in historical agriculture and agrarianism.
