Fed Cuts Interest Rate Again as Layoffs Mount: What it Means for Mortgages as Markets React Fed Chair Jerome Powell joined the majority of the FOMC to vote for the quarter-point rate cut at Wednesday's meeting in Washington DC.

The FOMC meets Oct 28-29 to discuss interest rates. Markets expect a 25bp cut, bringing the federal funds rate to 3.75–4%.

Lower rates typically lead to easing mortgage costs and support housing demand.
