Before building a new model you gotta build all the necessary jigs, molds and templates. Here’s a look at the Spanish solera work board and mold I’ve been working on for the upcoming classical build. The solera is 1.5” thick so it’s super stable, there’s a 3mm radius dished out in the bridge area of the soundboard, and the neck support is pitched 2mm from the body. Still a work in progress but I think it’ll work.

The start of something new. My first classical guitar. Also, my first time working with Madagascar rosewood. Lots of jigs, templates and moulds to be made first.

Pretty pictures of number 90. This is a 12 fret 0-28 style in Sitka spruce and Indian rosewood, with an ebony bridge, fingerboard and head plate, fully bound in Koa with some Ambrosia maple appointments. Waverly tuners with ebony buttons, strap button and bridge pins, and equipped with LR Baggs Anthem SL active electronics. 24.9” scale length, 1.75” nut width and she weighs about 3.5lbs. Beautiful, balanced tone with plenty of power and a long sustain, and super easy to play with low action.
This guitar is available and it is likely the only spec guitar I’ll have time to build this year, so if you’re interested in a McClellan guitar without the usual wait, this is some of my best work yet. $6,500 + tax. Don’t hesitate to reach out for more information or to make an appointment to visit the shop.
