Charleston, no matter how crowded you get and traffic seems like it is always at a standstill whenever I am going somewhere, you will always make time for you and I to be alone and cherish all that made you such a great hometown.

You’ve probably heard us photographers talk about “Golden Hour” and wondered what all the fuss is about.

Golden Hour is that magical time shortly after sunrise or just before sunset when the sun sits low in the sky, casting a warm, golden light across the landscape. The harsh shadows soften, colors become richer, and just about everything looks a little more beautiful.

This image is a perfect example of why photographers love this time of day. The warm glow, the depth, and the peaceful feeling simply can’t be duplicated in the middle of the day.

So the next time you hear someone mention Golden Hour, now you’ll know exactly what they’re talking about.

When you hear photographers talk about the “blue hour,” some of y’all who aren’t exactly early risers might be scratching your heads wondering what in the world we’re talking about.

Well, this image is a perfect example.

Blue hour happens just before sunrise (and after sunset) when the sky takes on those beautiful deep blue tones and the light is soft, calm, and full of mood. It doesn’t last long, but when the conditions are right, it can create some pretty special photographs.
