Congratulations to David Douglass on being named the American Legion Matthew Blount Post 555 Firefighter of the Year!
With 23 years of service in the fire profession, David has demonstrated a longstanding commitment to protecting his community. Since joining the Pelham Fire Department in 2006, he has served with dedication as a firefighter and EMT, and in April 2025 he achieved another significant milestone by earning his paramedic license, further expanding his ability to provide lifesaving care.
In addition to his service in the fire department, David honorably served our nation in the United States Marine Corps from 2007 to 2015, exemplifying a lifelong commitment to service both at home and abroad.
This recognition by American Legion Matthew Blount Post 555 is a fitting tribute to David's professionalism, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication to his community and country. Congratulations on this well-deserved honor, and thank you for your years of service.

The Pelham Fire Department and Chief Reid were honored to host our First Annual Retiree Pancake Breakfast in March. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for retirees to reconnect with one another, catch up on department news, and meet some of our newer employees. It was a great gathering filled with fellowship, conversation, and appreciation for the individuals who helped shape our department.

Chief Reid was honored to speak at the 2026 Bridge Program Graduation Ceremony hosted by Springville Fire and Rescue this past week. The Bridge Program provides certified volunteer firefighters with an opportunity to transition their training and experience into the paid fire service.
Congratulations to this year's graduates as they take the next step in their firefighting careers and continue their commitment to serving their communities.

This month our crews focused on Estate Lay training. This is a valuable skill set to sharpen. Estate lays can get complicated quickly, especially when you’re dealing with larger properties, long driveways, multiple structures, or limited water supply.
