The first Freedive Friday of 2021 is in the books! is OPEN, and we are here for it! It was definitely a cold one, but a great first training session all the same.

Freedive Fridays have become a favorite of mine. Our growing North Alabama team of freedivers have a contagious enthusiasm with which they train for and enjoy the sport of freediving, and I love being a part of that.

We spent last weekend finishing out a Freediving course for some, and pushing past limits for all! Depth PRs, first-time plate touches, new PADI certified freedivers, and another great day to be in the water!

It was a great weekend for another PADI Freediving course with new students and old. We are looking forward to hitting the quarry Saturday for more!

This past Saturday we (So.FD team) participated in PADI's International Women's Day at BWP in Pelham. We taught an Open Water FD session so some students could finish up their water work.
Jane Reneau with our team attended both as a woman diver and Freediver, but also as an underwater photographer to record the event. We also held our second Challenge day of 2019, which focused on depth. We had five women participate, all past students of So.FD and all exceptional freedivers - McKenzie Cavin, Janet Cruice, Darlene Tysinger, Tricia Chavez Cellenti, and Wendy Hill, as well as Jane Reneau. Jason Reneau (Jane’s driver and hubby) was also there to dive and handle the Challenge Day freediving event. The women made attempts at 44 and 52 feet, and as usual, to these freediving women those depths seemed like child's play. Jason made a new Personal Best depth at 75 feet.
All in all, it was a Great Challenge Day and Women's Dive Day success. Thanks McKenzie Cavin for inviting us to be part of BWP celebration of Women divers.

It was another great PADI Freediving class, even on a rainy day!

Rain or shine, we dive. Despite the few showers that came our way, we had a GREAT day of freediving!

Challenge Day 1 was a huge success! It was a GREAT day to be in the water, learning, practicing, and challenging ourselves!
