Why do I do pilates? SO THAT…. I do Pilates SO THAT I’m strong enough to shovel 20 inches of snow out from my driveway for an hour and not feel anything other than fatigue. I do pilates SO THAT I’m able to do the the basics of everyday life - without feeling those nagging ill affects of age. Lots of folks are getting into Pilates these days, but the hype is all around skinny young women who are doing it for fun and fitness. For me, it’s always been a means to an end - first when I was a professional ballet dancer and I did Pilates SO THAT I could get back onstage. Later I did pilates SO THAT I would be in less pain.
So tell me, why do you do Pilates?

My latest YouTube video deals with a very common issue -Sacro-Iliac pain. As a professional ballet dancer, SI pain bothered me for years. Although this isn’t a complete fix, this simple stretch can help to alleviate the discomfort. For more videos, subscribe to my YouTube channel. (Link in video).
Sacro-Iliac Stretch for lasting pain relief (by former professional dancer/Pilates rehab instructor) SI pain can be debilitating and very frustrating to deal with. As a professional ballet dancer, this is something that I struggled with for years. Sacro-Ilia...
I had such a great time at PAMA London. So many people from all over the world, from Europe, USA, Singapore, South Afrika and many points in between. It was wonderful to meet so many colleagues and share our perspectives. I met a number of great practitioners that are working in similar ways as I am. All of us, whether Pilates instructors, trainers, teachers, PT's, OT's or doctors all are working towards the same goal - to make dance safer and healthier for the young dancer and to better understand the nature of injuries that dancers get so we can better help the older performer as well.
Really great day. My presentation went great, and there were many other like minded people from all over who shared similar ideas. It was great to hear from them about their work. Looking forward to more tomorrow.
