We were honored to have the Payson Sheriffs Department come out to our Messinger Payson Funeral Home to do a demonstration of their K-9 unit! What an amazing experience!! Our staff member Nathan volunteered to be in the “Bite Suit”, ouch!! A huge thank you to the Payson’s Sheriff Department and all you do for our community!

It takes time to fully absorb the impact of a major loss. There are no rules for grief and how to deal with it. Grief is a very personal journey, each journey is different and what works for one person may not work for another.

If you are looking for some grief resources, please reach out to any of your Messinger Mortuary locations.

Meet Paul and Cora Messinger, they have dedicated their lives to serving families in the valley since 1959. They opened their first funeral home on the corner of Indian School and Miller roads on what use to be the Messinger family dairy farm. Back then, Scottsdale was a smaller rural farming community. While opening Scottsdale's first mortuary they also opened and operated the city's first ambulance service as well. Since then Messinger's has become an important part of the community from helping families through hardships and loss as well as community involvement.

Saturday. April 23, 2022, services for Ralph Hale were held in the Tonto Apache Gym. Many of Payson's Pioneer families were there to pay their respects to a "True Cowboy". The "Heart of Payson" is the only way to describe those in attendance, with more respect, kinship and fellowship than any funeral that has ever been held. When it came time for a prayer, every cowboy hat came off of every cowboy, young and old, in a single motion. To see this, it was impossible not to have a chill run throughout your body. Burial at Gisela Cemetery followed the service, with every tradition of the "cowboy way".

Funeral favors are a popular trend as a way to say thank you to guests and also a way to honor your loved one. These are little trinkets or keepsakes that you give away at funerals, memorials, or life celebration events.
