Heads up Tracy residents, reports indicate a large warehouse fire in Tracy that may result in smoke impacts extending into portions of the San Joaquin Valley. If you can see ash, smell smoke, you may be affected by fine particulate matter pollution. To reduce exposure, stay indoors when possible, close windows and doors, and use indoor air filtration to help keep indoor air clean. Sensitive individuals, including children, older adults, and those with heart or lung conditions, should take extra precautions. In preparation for the upcoming fire season, our crews are training alongside CAL FIRE Santa Clara Unit on progressive hose lays. 🔥🚒

A progressive hose lay is a critical wildland firefighting technique used in areas with difficult terrain and limited access. It allows firefighters to rapidly extend hose lines using hose packs carried on their backs, helping crews quickly deliver water from the engine to the fire line.

Training like this helps ensure our firefighters remain prepared to respond to wildland fires and protect our community and others across the state when called upon to assist.

Not every call looks the same, but every call matters. Whether it’s rescuing a pet or responding to a life-threatening emergency, our firefighters show up ready to help.
