Frank Toftemark of Seattle, a long time customer, is into one cool sport…slough boat racing. Small light weight jet drive boats, 650-700 horsepower and 7.6 g’s in the corners. Sounds like a carb man’s nightmare for fuel control and keeping a flat fuel curve. The rules specify a 1.68 throttle blade which limits the total air through the carb. We sent him a pretty trick piece in the 900 cfm range but a new design may be coming next year with the legal base. The motor uses Speier Racing 23* heads. Frank reported the carb put out a near flat fuel curve in the 12:7 range. With a new combination and mainly concentrating on impeller ratios to get the rpm maxed, they’ll tweak the final jetting and the boat will return to contending for championships again.
