Union Station Homeless Services
For over 50 years, USHS has been serving communities in the San Gabriel Valley, leading the fight to end homelessness. We know that housing ends homelessness.
As the region’s lead agency for coordinating homeless services, we serve 36 cities, from El Sereno to Pomona. Union Station Homeless Services, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is committed to helping homeless individuals and families rebuild their lives. Emotions ran high last week as we celebrated the latest graduates of our Life Skills & Job Readiness cohort.
The room was full of everything that makes this work matter: diplomas and hugs, tears and laughter, powerful testimonies, brand-new professional headshots, and Chromebooks to carry them into their next chapter.
But the thing that filled the room more than anything else? Hope.
Hope that had been lost and found again.
As one graduate, Elizabeth, put it so beautifully: “I now have hope. I lost myself a little along the way, but I got to know me again through this class.”
This is the work. This is why it matters. And none of it happens without you.
Every gift you give helps fund programs that offer our neighbors more than just practical tools. It offers them a path back to themselves. Back to possibility. Back to a future they can believe in again.
To our newest graduates: we're so proud of you. Not just for finishing, but for showing up, doing the hard work, and choosing hope when it wasn’t easy. That takes courage.
Congratulations. We’re honored to walk this road with you. 💛

A huge thank you to and fam for spending time with us at our USHS Adult Center last week 💛
In partnership with , Anna joined our kitchen team to chop ingredients, prepare lunch, and serve a meal for our residents and community members.
We’re so grateful for partners and volunteers who show up with such warmth, humility, and care. Meals are more than food. They’re a reminder that our neighbors are seen, valued, and supported.
Thank you, Anna, for helping us create a little more connection around the table!

🏅This month we would like to highlight a longtime volunteer and former USHS employee :: drum roll please 🥁:: Katie! 🎉
Since 2022, Katie has been using art 🎨 to support the well-being of residents by creating spaces that foster imagination, focus, and self-expression.
During her sessions, they engage both creatively and critically, connecting through conversation and shared experiences.
Over time, they have formed meaningful bonds, and she values being part of her local community.

USHS held an Advisory Council event to provide the Council with a first look at our three-year strategic plan. The Advisory Council is made up of former USHS board members and committee chairs.
Special thanks to former USHS Board Chair, Rob Floe, for welcoming guests into his wonderful home.
Julio Guevara has spent much of his life in survival mode.
He grew up in gang culture in the San Gabriel Valley and entered prison for the first time at 19. Over the years, incarceration became a pattern: four prison terms, with a fifth looming.
But as he faced the possibility of returning to prison again, something inside him shifted.
As Julio progressed through treatment, another challenge emerged: housing. His time in recovery housing was running out, and returning to his old environment could undo everything he was building.
Through a referral, Julio connected with Union Station Homeless Services and moved into interim housing at Casa Luna in El Sereno.
For the first time, he had a place that was his — not a motel room, not a couch, not a cell.
Read Julio’s story on The Way Home blog at the link in our bio.
