Helping men and women recover from addiction issues for over 50 years. We're here when you're ready. Physically, Impact consists of several locations.

"Homebase" is a two and a half acre, beautifully landscaped facility in NW Pasadena. On the property we have accommodations for 135 residents, a beautifully maintained fitness center (thank you Massman Family), a little store, a library, an auto center for maintenance of our 30 vehicles, a conference center, a medical facility and a fully stocked building filled with clothing, shoes and hygiene pr

Last week, Impact hosted a certificate ceremony honoring a group of our patients who successfully completed a journalism course through USC's Prison Education Project (PEP).

The Prison Education Project is a remarkable program that brings professors and experts directly to Impact's campus to teach college-level courses to our patients.

Throughout the journalism class, led by investigative reporter Hayley Fox, patients produced a beautiful newspaper, called “Impact Times”, which featured articles about Impact staff and alumni, original comics, and even a crossword puzzle.

This course is one of several creative expression offerings our patients have had the opportunity to participate in. Through PEP, Impact patients have also taken courses in comic books, screenwriting, social determinants of health, and environmental justice.

These courses build skills and affirm our patients' capacity for creativity to encourage academic achievement during their recovery journey.

It's thanks to our community that we are able to provide these unique opportunities to our patients. We are grateful for our partnership with USC PEP, and incredibly proud of every patient who participated!

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we must recognize the relationship between Mental Health and Addiction in order to provide the best treatment possible.

Recovery from addiction is complicated. It involves the brain, mental health, genetics, trauma, stress, and environment all at once. Impact's comprehensive approach is exactly what the science says works. Through specialized, evidence-based psychological care and therapy, our patients can be the healthiest versions of themselves while reintegrating into their communities.

This month and every month, remember that you never know what someone else is going through. Check in with your loved ones, and take care of each other. 💚

Introducing The Susan E. Riley Intake Center!

Every person that walks through our doors deserves comfort, support, and a second chance. Which is why Impact approached the Susan E. Riley Foundation to help us renovate our administrative office. They approved a grant that was initially intended for just bathroom upgrades and carpet replacement, but thanks to Impact's facilities team, a full remodel of the intake area was achieved, creating a welcoming environment for new patients.

With minimal disruption to our admissions process, the work was completed this spring. Finally, the space (once dim and outdated, as seen in the before picture) is now bright, comfortable, and warm.

On behalf of the people we serve, Impact is eternally grateful to the Susan E. Riley Foundation for funding this remodel. We are now able to show all who enter our facility that we are committed to our patients, treating them with dignity from intake to discharge.

On May 21st, families, alumni, patients, and staff gathered to celebrate over 50 Impact program graduates!

People who, months ago, could not imagine going a single day without relying on drugs or alcohol, now hold their head high to signify their adherence to a new journey in recovery through the 12-steps.

Graduation is a completion. The end of one stage, and the beginning of another. However, these milestones are not meant to be stop signs for the men and women that come to Impact for help. They are meant to be celebrations of progress.

Impact stands with each of our program graduates to enforce the promise that we will continue to walk this path with them.

Last night, Impact was invited to the Pasadena City Council Public Safety Committee meeting, which is held monthly to review policies related to law enforcement, public wellness, and other community safety matters.

We were honored to present on our Impact Alliance program which requires new recruits of the Pasadena Police Department to participate in an all-day orientation at Impact Treatment Center.

This partnership, now in its third year of implementation, provides a unique opportunity for new recruits to learn more about members of the community they will be protecting, including those who struggle with addiction. It also gives our patients and staff the opportunity to build rapport and trust with local police officers. On both ends, reducing stigma leads to more compassionate treatment and a safer community.

Our strong partnership with the Pasadena Police Department has had a tremendously positive impact on the population we serve and the community as a whole, and for that we are grateful.

Thank you to the Pasadena City Council for allowing us time to speak on this and for facilitating this great relationship between Impact and city institutions.

Sometimes you have to think outside the box to preserve the integrity of what is inside it, and for us, that means protecting the bird in our logo by building systems that actually allow it to fly.

We were honored to welcome Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman to Impact this week at our invitation to see the work in action.

There is a powerful irony in a District Attorney, someone charged with prosecution and public safety, stepping into a treatment environment and recognizing that safer communities are often built by taking thoughtful chances on the right individuals. Drug Court represents that balance. It is structured, accountable, and rooted in clear expectations, while offering an alternative path that creates real opportunity for change.

As the first Drug Court provider in California in 1994, we have remained committed to this model for decades and will continue into the future, working alongside the courts, law enforcement, and our community partners. This “carrot and stick” approach is not just philosophy. It is a proven framework that combines accountability with opportunity, and it requires strong, thoughtful policy to sustain and expand its impact across systems.

What we shared was not theory. It was the lived reality of individuals doing the work, being held accountable, and rebuilding their lives through structure, education, and connection.

Thank you, Mr. Hochman, for believing in our mission and for your commitment to policies that support this balance.

Together, we are helping individuals become productive members of society, living a program of recovery grounded in the 12 Steps while strengthening public safety in a meaningful and lasting way.

If you build it, they will come.

Several years ago Impact built a program to directly address the direction and behaviors of our recently incarcerated patients. The PICS (Post Incarceration Services) Program has been granting second chances to men and women under the guidance of our Community Engagement Director David Moore.

On April 22nd & 23rd, thanks to the support and recognition of the Amity Foundation and the Justice, Care & Opportunities Department, Impact was able to show the world the scope and effectiveness of how we can help those who are re-entering society.

PICS Summit: The Impact Model welcomed other service providers, community partners in law enforcement and academia, government officials, and Impact supporters to a two-day conference in Long Beach. The goal was to educate and motivate. To showcase interventions that Impact has put in place, and to help light a path for anyone else that would like to join us.

Our deepest thanks to those who came out, and a promise to the community that we will see you next year.
