Nancy Nicklow with Real Insurance Talk at Huff Insurance explains what happens when a neighbor's tree falls on your property.
Many people assume the neighbor automatically pays, but that's not always the case. If the tree was healthy and came down during a storm or other unexpected event, your homeowners insurance may be responsible for the damage—or you may pay out of pocket if the cost is below your deductible.
Watch the video to learn how tree damage claims typically work.

A quick warning based on years of experience dealing with hundreds of payment issues involving bank bill pay services and insurance payments… (This does not mean that all bank services are bad.....)
If you use your bank’s bill pay system to send payments to your insurance company, there’s a good chance the payment is not being sent electronically. In many cases, the bank is actually mailing a paper check. Unless you are insured with a large national insurance company, this may be the case. (This varies by bank as well)
That means:
• The money leaves your account immediately
• The bank may only cut checks once or twice a week
• The check still has to be printed, mailed, and processed
We’ve seen delays of 10-15 days or more before the insurance company even receives the payment. Remember that mail time can pla a significant role in the timing of the payment as well....
Over the years, we’ve also seen issues where:
• Insurance account numbers changed and bill pay kept sending payments to the old account
• Clients thought payments were being made correctly when they weren’t
• One client canceled their policy but forgot to turn off bill pay, so checks kept getting mailed for almost a year while the insurance company kept refunding the payments
To avoid headaches, late payments, or even policy cancellations, we strongly recommend making payments directly through the insurance company’s website or payment system whenever possible.
This is one of those insurance issues people usually do not hear about until it becomes a problem.

Cannot start Memorial Day weekend without a cookout for the team, even in a little rain. Found out that cooking 10 burgers (80% lean) at a time will get the grill a little heated..... All is good, no fire extinguisher needed, and the burgers turned out great with a little char on the edges for extra flavor.....
After last night's storms here in Maryland, this is again a relevant question....
If you have not done so, go on over and give our Real Insurance Talk page a follow.
It is our outlet to post reals that explain insurance in simple term and will have more insurance related content than our main page.
