LIGHT: THE THUMBPRINT OF GOD

SCRIPTURE:
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:16 KJV

DISCOVERY:
Light was the first thing God made of His creation. It bears His signature: "God is light" (1 John 1:5).

Light in this physical world is a template of the spiritual realm. It moves at a constant rate: the speed of light (186,000 miles per second) and provides a boundary between this realm and the spiritual realm. It does not age, therefore seems eternal. It has no mass, therefore is not considered matter. But it transmits energy and heat (electromagnetism and radiation). In physics, it is called a photon. It interacts with us, but it itself is not matter.

Light also carries information (don't ask me how). It provides contrast. Without light, there would be no shadows (which form when something blocks light's rays). When God, shining in His own uncreated Light, created our light, He divided it from the darkness (cf. Gen 1:4)—So that it could be seen by us I guess. "Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee." (Ps. 139:12, KJV)

In atoms, electrons need energy to move to a higher energy level. This boost is provided by its corresponding photon. You see, photons are specialized. Every natural element (atom) has its own resonant photon. And light comes in visible and invisible varieties. The seven colors which hide in white light are visible to us, but there are also the invisible ones: long radio waves (photons move in waves), microwaves, infrared, ultraviolet (which some animals can see), x-rays, and the short but powerful gamma rays.

Everything on earth is composed of atoms and atoms have their photons. Thus light infiltrates everything. We are made of light. Light is like the Spirit of Truth which is everywhere present and fills all things (as it declares in the daily prayer of the ancient—and today's—Church). We abide in light… "Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation" (Ps. 91:9 KJV); and "LORD, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations" (Ps. 90:1 by Moses).

Light is often mentioned in Scripture: "In him was life, and the life was the light of men...."; continuing "That [Jesus] was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world" (John 1:4,9 KJV). And the most intriguing of all, “in thy Light shall we see light" (Ps. 36:9 KJV).

Massless photons conduct heat and energy without which we could not live. It is in all parts of our physical bodies. In our glorified bodies, we shall see the light shining as Jesus body shone on Mt Tabor. "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." (1 John 3:2 KJV) GOD IS LIGHT

REFLECT:
In John 14:23 Jesus said, “If a man love Me, he will keep My words; and My Father will love him, and We will come unto him and make Our abode with him.” The thought of Your indescribable LIGHT and LOVE living in—inhabiting us... as we LIVE in YOU—is above and beyond all words and imagination.

PRAYER:
Oh GOD, Thank You that You are willing to make our hearts YOUR HOME. Keep us keeping Your words. We commit by Your grace to living in, with, and by YOUR LIGHT. Our God, YOU are “the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords, Who alone is immortal and Who lives in unapproachable LIGHT. We bow in awe and give YOU, the LORD of LIFE and LIGHT, all the glory and honor due YOUR name forever...and ever. AMEN
