Pasadena Sign Studios

Monday the City of Hope National Medical Center announced it's plans to have a cure for Type 1 Diabetes within the coming years. A generous gift will hopefully make this possible. What was not announced was we were contracted to place the recognition on a research building along with various other projects throughout the campus and satellite facilities.

Here are some recent projects and a blast from the past: Acrylic letters at a software company in old town, a hand-done historical replacement sign at the Hotel Green complete with gold leaf and black smalted background (in need of a good cleaning) and another blasted cedar sign for a yarn store in the Arcade on Colorado Blvd.

Two more finished projects in Pasadena. HDU letters for a biotech firm and cast aluminum for a South Orange Grove condo complex. Both should outlast us, providing identification for many years.

Finally some work in our own home town of Sierra Madre. A simple replacement of existing letters which failed. (another company) This time using HDU foam will ensure these letters will last well until - and beyond - the next decade. Always spend the money on the best materials!

The historic Vista Del Arroyo Hotel in Pasadena is now the Richard Chambers 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Building. We just completed an upgrade of all suite and directory signs throughout the floors holding the Justice's offices. We have been doing work in the building and the bungalows on the grounds for many years now and always enjoy being there. It is a beautifully maintained part of our local history and our appellate court system at work.

Today we installed another theme sign at the historic Neville building in Monrovia. Other tenants we have done signs for include a travel agency, hair salon, art gallery and shoe repair.

We regularly do jobsite signs for a variety of contractors. The latest order were deluxe sandblasted versions for a concrete company in Newport Beach. They work on HIGH END homes and want a more sophisticated look for their workplace ID.

We made a bit of a scene on the job yesterday. Several residents and staff happened by right at this moment. Fortunately all had a good laugh and we completed the project to everyone's satisfaction. "Assistance" if you didn't get it.

A very popular material to work with currently is Core-Ten which is specifically formulated to corrode and form a protective layer for the steel beneath it. It develops a lovely rusty patina that can be both rustic or contemporary. This donor recognition plaque will stand the test of time and only get more beautiful.

Elegant window lettering can make the difference between a store and a fine shop. A popular shopping venue in Pasadena is the Burlington Arcade featuring small, high end specialty shops. We have done work for many shops in the arcade over the years. Our featured client is Contessa Chocolate Collection, makers of high quality chocolate confections. Vinyl window lettering and acrylic interior letters complete the picture.
