When trying to navigate hard conversations, it helps to have some of the fundamentals of communication down. If you struggle with these, the good news is they are skills that can be built with practice. Try them in any conversation with any person (ex: bff venting about her breakup? Sister complaining about work? Teen struggling in a friendship? Partner overwhelmed with the kids?). You get a lot of bang for your buck when you get these skills down. Practice them and see your conversations and relationships deepen.

Just saying ….. you show up to couples therapy, get ready to do some work 🙌🏼 (with a lot of support, of course). But in all seriousness, couples therapy can be hard. There’s a lot of emotional risk involved. And, at the same time, it is SO rewarding when you start to see the changes in your relationship, in your partner, and in YOURSELF!
