Why does childhood hunger soar during summers? One reason is that when summer rolls around, many working parents must pay for child care that can include expensive summer camps, which typically charge more to cover the hours needed for parents working a full-time job. This cost can easily total thousands of dollars for families with multiple children.
That can mean that little money is left for groceries at the end of the month for families who also might be dealing with financial pressures such as a steep rent increase and high gas prices.
You can help with a monthly gift to provide reliable meals for local children not just in the summer, but year-round: https://bit.ly/3S1LdZy

When schools close for summer break, many families lose access to one of the most dependable sources of nutrition for their children – free school breakfasts and lunches.
Too many family grocery budgets are stretched beyond their limits with the arrival of summer. That’s why we shift our Food for Thought program, which delivers 2,000 bags of groceries to five local school districts each week during the school year, to support the free lunch programs run by Aurora and Cherry Creek school districts.
Your gift of $20 means we can send home bags stocked with non-perishable foods such as pasta and canned vegetables to two families. Please consider helping us help children in need in our communities this summer: https://bit.ly/3S1LdZy

SECOR wants to educate our community and debunk assumptions of suburban poverty, the specific segment of population SECOR serves through our Free Food Market.
Suburban poverty is hidden and shameful. Often times when someone finds themselves in a place of need, they go through a dehumanizing process. SECOR serves our guests without financial requirements and judgment.
